Buying a new laptop

I want to buy a new laptop but since i don't know shit about laptops i'm asking ur help.

I have a budget of about 800-1000 euros

It has to be
- able to read ( maybe write ) DVD
- MSN & irc and all that shit
- maybe ET :)
- Azerty keyboard
- At least 4 USB-ports & 1 network port


My friend offered me his Acer Aspire 1350 for 350 €

AMD Athlon 2400+
Clockspeed 350Mhz
192 RAM
40 GB HDD
DVD Drive

tell me if it's good & give me other laptops that are good :)
