NTFS to FAT32

yuu, im at some1's laptop now, it has xp on it from out of the factory, but its wayyyy to slow to run xp actually, so i want to install windows me. Plz dont whine bout windows:me sucking so hard cuz thats useless, the only thing I need to know is wheter it is safe to convert your ntfs partiton to a fat32 partition or not. Thx in advance...
