Big text coming up about my quakecon experience, dont read it if you think
it will waste some minutes of your life ;]
I just wanted to write this for myself to look back at it later,
when i'm wondering how it all actually went in case i forgot it all
already, and maybe some people want to read it too, so thats
why i make it a journal ;d
Going from Amsterdam to Memphis, from Memphis to Dallas...
it went pretty smooth but it was such a boring flight (10 hours) :(
Once arrived at the Dallas airport, i took the taxi and told the
driver to go to Embassy suites hotel dallas http://www.embassysuites.com/en/es/hotels/index.jhtml?ctyhocn=DALTXES .
When i got there and wanted to check in it seemed that i was at the
wrong Embassy suites hotel, the hotel manager told there was no one
from KiH that booked a room.
A room in this hotel would cost 135 dollar per night -.- so i had to go
to a random cheaper hotel close to this one, because i didn't want to
waste another 65 dollar on a taxi or pay 135 dollar for a night :x
The manager of the hotel adviced me to go to "Easy inn hotel" wich was
just 200m away.
This hotel was indeed cheap, 50 dollar per night so i booked a room and
took a shower and stuff, but there was no airco while it was 40 degrees...
At that point i think i knew why this hotel room was so cheap :/ it was
more like a sauna :|
After a few minutes in the sauna i went to the computer in the hotel, wich
was for public use and checked xfire.be, and saw i got a private msg.
It was gifty and asked me where i am and said i need to be at the Embassy
suites hotel dallas MARKET CENTER http://www.embassysuites.com/en/es/hotels/index.jhtml?ctyhocn=DALFWES .
I was at the Embassy suites hotel dallas PARK CENTRAL AREA, i decided to
go to the hotel where i was supposed to be right away, because theres no
way i could sleep in that sauna ^^
GG, another taxi for ~65 dollars, i wasted like 2x 65 dollars on taxi
and another 50 dollars on the hotel room i didn't even sleep in
(but it was a nice sauna).
When i arrived there this hotel looked very nice, swimming pool, jacuzzi,
free taxi for within a few kilometers, a little shop and in the
hotel room AIRCO :D (no sauna) :(
Then when i got in the room gifty was sleeping, but i woke him up ofcourse
to say hi and so on, then went to sleep.
The next day we picked up reload, smutzig and FeTTe and went to swimm, eat
etc... also we checked already out the place where quakecon was :).

the lan centre didn't allow to change mouse and keyboard etc, but the
bootcamp was still usefull for the tactics and teamplay anyway :d
Also it was nice to meet wS, they were really nice guys :).
After this bootcamp we went to swimm, eat, watch tv again etc and sleep.
The next morning i woke up by reload screaming in Estonian language some
random whine i guess, he was looking at the clock and kept screaming in Estonian
language and was looking at me and gifty in a "wtf?!" way, then after 30 secs he
realised that he was supposed to talk English because we didn't understand a shit
of it xD
The thing why reload was whining was that we were supposed to play our first match
at 10:00 and it was like 09:30 at the clock and we were still in our bed so... :D
We took a quick shower and went to the taxi that drove us to quakecon, luckily it
seemed our oppenent "PoN" didn't show up either, so we had no troubble :>
Then the thing that totally destroyed my vacation came, i was not allowed to
install accelfix or use mouserate switch on the computer at quakecon i had
to play with.
Also the space on the desk was small, i'm used to play with alot of space
between the mouse and keyboard.
This all forcing me to play with a crappy skipping g5 mouse, no accelfix
and barely space for the mouse and keyboard.
Settings i'm used to play with are mx518 @ 1000hz, accelfix, 22inch moni @
200hz and enough space for my mouse and keyboard.
Having to play with those other settings all of sudden totally fucked me up,
not to mention that my seet was at the edge where all people walk, a camara man
filming me and my screen the whole rounds (why he had to pick me ffs?) and then
that noise... omg...
Oke, enough whine, i could still make myself usefull for the team anyway by
teamplay and communication, but i wish i was allowed to use MY AIM.
We won our first game vs some american team wich i cant remember, then lost to
xfire.be with 2-4.
So the next day (i think? cant remember the order it all was played :( )
in the looser bracket we had to play vs no remorse, we beat them 4-0
and our next match was vs warped sanity, we beat them too 4-0.
Now we had to play vs crossfire.nu again wich was a very close game that we

that picture was taken during the pause we had before the decider map.
So after this game we should have won we just went to spec the final idle
vs crossfire.nu, i won some mantis mousepad by guessing some presantators
question where in he asked what year he started to work for Bla bla
(cant remember), i said 2000, and it was right so i won that mantis mousepad
(i gave it away to reload anyway since i'm happy with qpad).
The time was there for us to go on the stage and recieve our "money" http://www.swertcw.com/default.php?c=download&id=1200 (i dont look to happy as you can see :) ) ,
i'm taking care of the money with all this papers stuff to fill in first, but
my former teammates can thrust me il send them the money if i recieve it :)
This stage thingy was pretty nice with free food and drinks.
There was a show with a man doing some magic tricks etc, the 2on2 and 1on1 final of
quake4 live on big screens and in real, plus some quake4 1on1 match where
anyone could play because these got randomly picked, it was lost cause vs a guy named
KaL wich played for 4000 dollars, lost cause won because he was even in the
q4 tournament, KaL was just a random guy not even knowing the game, so you can
imagine how the match was like :D
After these matches we went back to our hotel and me and reload discovered
a nice restaurant :D just 300m away from our hotel.
It was some kind of McDonalds http://www.mahpro.com/hometown/images/whataburger.JPG ,
amazing where the prices for food, drinks and icecream etc.
1 liter milkshake and a large fries was like 2 dollar, no wonder that there
where whales all over the place xD and a taxi for a few kilometers is 65 dollars...
what a strange country -.-
All the time me and reload did was kinda like: watching tv, swimm, jacuzzi,
check xfire.be on the public computer, go to restaurant again xD this all till
our flight back home, yes were not really in the mood for party after such
dissapointing quakecon.
The other 3 gifty, smutzig and FeTTe went to the xfire.be team for a small
party i guess.

In the first part in that little .wmv there was a defect jacuzzi where of i
think only hot water came in, it felt so fucking hot... almost got a
heart attack there :x second part is simple rain but i guess reload never
saw that in his life before or something xD the third part we were waiting
for a taxi and asking stupid questions to people -.- lotto that this one was
the hotel manager.
2 days after our last match at quakecon were just about chilling around,
there was not so much to do.
It was time for me to go back to home at 7 august from Dallas to Memphis and
from Memphis to Amsterdam, gza had the same flight :) he even had to go from
Amsterdam to Helsinki and then to Estonia :D thats fucked up :) 15 hour flight?
I managed to fall asleep in the airplane from Memphis to Amsterdam, and woke up
when the plane touched the ground again, that was nice :P
My parents picked me up and drove me home, it was nice to be in America and meet
some people, but this feeling that's inside me screaming i could have played
so much better if i would have my normal settings... feels just very bad :/
Hopefully i can play with my own settings on the xfire lan -.-
Afterall a nice but shit vacation, that's the best way for me to discribe it
i think.
