Help needed with flat screen monitor

Okay, well my dad got my a flat screen for christmas and he gave it to me early, today infact.

I didnt notice this at first but i do a lot now since i loaded up ET.

In ET, when i move my crosshair, the image 'behind' looks like its lagging with fps, aswell as the players when moving, they go really blurry. Also on my desktop when i move the mouse pointer it goes blurry too.

I hate this and its really annoying and i hope there is some way to fix it, i dont wanna say to my dad i dont want the monitor cos it will hurt his feelings. :(

Ive tried things like changing the Hertz on my monitor and the display refresh in ET, aswell as fps, resolution and so on...

If anyone could help me please do! If there is any questions you need to ask please just ask them , i really want to fix it. :(
