Vent 2.3 ROBOTVOICE

I have this wierd problem.
In Vent 2.1.4, everything is normal, normal voice normal inbound
For some reason, in vent 2.3.0, my voice is apparently robotised, someone changed to stereomix so I could hear it, and it really does sound like a robot filter is applied to my voice. Really crackly too.
I can't think of any way to fix this.
OS: Linux (Ubuntu Dapper)
Soundcard: SB Live!
Emulation: Wine.
But I'm assuming this isn't a Wine problem.
Any ideas?
