HELP NEEDED!

I recently formatted my pc and everything was ok until i tried palying ET, after reinstalling it. All programms work fine and i even installed other games and they too work fine.
As soon as i enter the server (any server) my hard disk head seems to stop and my pc starts to make noises and then just crahes. I tried turning of my firewall and my antivirus but nothing.
System specs:
AMD 3000+
MSI K8T Neo
1 Gb Ram
ATi 9800 Pro
Somebodie please help me, i want to play! :<
EDIT: Problem solved till now :) Installed gfx drivers and also the osprivileges here and everything is fine now. Thanks everyone :D
