Problems with ET

Yes, as incredibly unlikely it may sound I too have issues with ET. Several actually, but the main ones are these:
Problem 1: When I start up ET and connect to a server I have lagspikes for around 5-10 minutes. My FPS jumps like hell and even my ping gets effected, jumping from the standard 48 to 450 and then back. It's pretty annoying, especially on public when you can't wait to ready up.
It happened just after a PB update, so I guess it's got something to do with that.
Problem 2: Sometimes I can't connect to servers with certain ports. It just says Awaiting Connection... and keeps on trying to connect.
If I reboot I can however connect to the server with no problem at all.
I saw a couple of journals about Problem 1, but no solution :O)
