Enemy Territory - Quake Wars

ET:QW gets € 4000,- prizepurse for the ClanBase OpenCup

Just a week after its release Enemy Territory: QUAKE Wars is already shining as competitive game. Today ClanBase has announced to be partnering up with Activision to present the first Enemy Territory: QUAKE Wars OpenCup. With the cooperation with Activision, a prizepot of € 4000,- has become available for the winners of the cup.

The prizepool will be spread among the winning team as following:
€ 2000,-
€ 1250.-
€ 500,-
4th € 250,-

110 teams have already signed up for the competition, among them are top teams such as Germany Team SPEEDLINK, Sweden EYEBALLERS, Europe Team Dignitas, Germany OCRANA and Sweden Copenhagen eSport.

An official statement has been given out by the community manager of SplashDamage, the developers of ET:QW:

not saying any choise of format or rules is bad, but I dont think this does anything for etqw in the long run :/ eSport needs help to get more lan events and establish lan culture if it is to survive in the future and big money online isnt helping.

I've played both cod1 and 2 and the only people I've heard nagging about the difference in skill(although I do agree that cod2 could do with some recoil) are the people that couldn't run the game on their 5year old pc/the 50 eastern euro teams that still play.

First ET:QW OpenCup is having more pricemoney than all former ET EuroCups together \o/

P.S.
this is not meant to be a flame towards ET btw... ET and RtCW have been fucking great games and would have deserved a much bigger support.
But RtCW had problems with the violence and all that stuff so it was 18+ in most countrys, and ET had no company behind it, supporting it. In ET:QW it seems that all those problems are fixed and the way is made clear for uber serious eSports business !
