Serious business, gaming?
Cash: "Gaming is evolving into something more, building a foundation for real life contacts and having lots and lots of fun. "
Cash is talking about his passion, e-sports: semi-professional gaming. But the same can be said about a lot of gamers who dont get paid: clanned ppl, pubnoobs or offline onlies sais Cash, who's company - crossfire- organizes online and offline events. Fun, party and social gamers have the need to step out of their virtual reality once in a while and go visit a pub, share a beer. Xandra shares this believe with Cash. Gaming is heading for a more fun and social future.
Cash: "I see more and more solo players and members of online communities who want to get to know each other better at tournaments."
Xandra: "When I started out as a shoutcaster, ppl went home straight after the tournament ended. This has been changing a lot as of late, with players and visitors hanging out at the venue after games have been played. I even went on vacation with ppl from the gamingscene."
Cash: "Its easy to get to know ppl if you already got to know them trough Myspace, Facebook or gaming community sites. Having fun, party, getting to know different languages and cultures: its all possible." But Crossfire, the company Cash started with British shoutcaster Stuart Saw is taking things one step further.
Cash: "From 28th of February till the first of March we are organizing the CDC, a prestigious tournament with 400 players coming from all parts of Europe. The event will be held at the the Wzzrd gaming centre with games being shown in a nearby Cinestar Movietheatre."
Xandra is member of the all female team GX. At CDC she'll be playing her favourite shooter: CoD4. Just before the interview ends she askes her not to write about how many boyfriends she picked up in her online friends and offline events.
Xandra: Dont write about it :) I got a reputation to uphold!
From 28th of februari till the first of March some of he best internationals gamers will travel to CDC. Players from all over Europe will be coming to Enschede. (Sweden, Spain, Italy, England, Estland and Lagland). There is a 13000€ in prizemoney. CoD4, ET, ET:QW and wSw will be the games played.
Cash: We rented 6 bungalows from the University, which should give about 90 players a place to sleep. It will be one big gamerfest. Till early morning people will be playing poker, partying, having a BBQ, etc ... If you are planning on heading over to Enschede try to book asap as most hotels near the venue have no more vacancies.
