Tek-9 LAN Announcement

image: tek92 Tek-9 Networks have announced today that unfortunately they will not be hosting another Outpost On Fire event.
However the good news is that they will be aiming higher with their eyes set on the Antwerp Esports Festival held over the end of July. In depth information on the LAN is scarce however it has been confirmed that the event will be host to two PC titles Call of Duty 4 and FIFA08. The even will be held between the 25th and 27th of July in the Hilton hotel in Antwerp. The total prize fund will be worth 30, 000 Euros consisting of hardware and money. The prize purse will be split between the two games however it is unknown to what ratio each games will have of the 30,000 Euros.

Good for european scene, i don`t seen any teams besides tek-9, srs and perhaps h2k and dcc attending and standing a chance against the other european teams. The cod4 benelux scene alone is just too small for such big events.

Well whether a tournament is successful for your team or not is not really about performing well but about getting the chance to perform at your best, I mean attending a well run tournament and ending last is probably more interesting than winning a crap tournament. I guess the same counts for spectators and press. Gaming is under fire a lot lately and well run tournaments are nice examples of the good things gaming brings.

There is no fun in watching a match that ends up 13-2 , this is the same in soccer for example. Noone wants to watch a game that ends up 7-1 for the division 1 team against a division 3 team. Gaming should be competetion between clans who are almost as equal. Take for example events like the WCG and ESWC, these events are only that big and intresting because it`s all about teams and players of almost equal strength. Therefor I hope such events like this Tek-9 LAN will focus more and more on the competitive side of gaming and will invite the best 16 cod4 teams there are instead of an open signups concept.

That's true, however I doubt spectators will be cheering for a team which isn't from their own country, so yes they can invite the 16 best teams or something, but they also have to take it under consideration that the event is located in Belgium/The Benelux, so most of the teams competing should be from this region as well. And even in this setup there will be enough close encounters.

L3 , Tek-9 , Dfiance and perhaps some belgium qualifier the first morning would cover the belgium part I guess. We`ll see, the idea is awesome,

Sad that all the dutch mgs cant organise something like this themselves
( CNO,Srs,H2k,Dvotion,Wave,DCC etc. )
