Mapmaker Chris has been working on his map Meltdown since late 2007 and the first public beta is now released. The map has been designed from the beginning for 6on6 and the sole goal has been to make a good map for competition. Now you can help test the map and provide feedback on how to improve it.
Meltdown features close quarters infantry combat as GDF assault a Strogg facility and there are no vehicles on the map.
Read on for information, screenshots and download mirrors.
Scenario[/b]
In this map we see the GDF trying to put an end to a major Strogg facility located in a once grand city. In order to reach the facility the GDF must first disable the shield generator to by pass the numerous shielded barriers leading to the facility. Once done the GDF must overload the facility's main reactor with additional energy cells, 1 in total should be sufficient for total meltdown.
Objectives[/b]
1. Destroy the Strogg Shield Generator to gain access to the facility.
2. Hack the Strogg Security Controls to gain access to the energy cell.
3. Deliver the energy cell to the reactor intake to cause total meltdown.

Additional Information[/b]
The map is aimed at 6 verses 6 Stopwatch and would probably not go down well on larger servers.
Although the map has undergone private testing the it is by no means perfect yet, please provide constructive feedback in order for me to make improvements to the map.
To install place z_meltdown_b1.pk4 into "id Software\Enemy Territory - QUAKE Wars\base" directory.

A full set of custom objective sounds are planned for the next version so you easily tell what is going on, for the time being, keep an eye out for the text based alerts on screen.
Useful Tips[/b]
For the last stages indoors they are small diameter stroyent pipes that lead from the strogg spawn to each objective area, follow these to avoid getting lost.

Some odd bits brushwork are lifted from Splash Damage's map references that were included with the SDK.
Some custom textures taken from http://www.cgtextures.com/ and http://berneyboy.planetquake.gamespy.com/index.htm.

The screenshots are taken from a high graphics config. Its much lighter with your own config and adjusted gamma (I have higher gamma anyway).
But does seem a bit dark for my liking :) but thats from the ss :).
ps. make new maps for ET, not for etqw
ETQW = awesome
