That's right tonight I miss out on Spain vs Italy and instead bring you all the action from the ESL in Call of Duty 4 and Team Fortress 2.
CoD4 ESL LB Round 2 - 19:00 CET Sunday 22nd June - choZen vs TeK-9 - MAP TBD
choZen come into this match on the back of defeat in the play-offs to LowLandLions (13-3). It was a heavy defeat but they will no doubt bounce back against a reasonably inactive TeK-9.
TeK-9 started the play-offs with defeat to the now finalists Speed-link (13-11). A close run match they no doubt feel they could have won and went on to smash Roskilde Ravens (13-4). TeK-9 have had activity problems in CoD4 but recently have started to play more. This is possibly down to the recent player change with Stevy replacing Kammyz or just a step up towards the summer lans.
CoD4 ESL LB Round 2 - 20:00 CET Sunday 22nd June - Dignitas vs Fnatic - MAP TBD
Dignitas are in a rough patch of inactivity due to Mick's real life activities (<3). Something will have to give if they plan to go far in the summer lans as at the moment they are purely playing official games and not finding time to practise. Dignitas play-off path saw them defeating Roskilde Ravens (13-7) but then falling to current finalists Speed-Link (13-7). They now face a team they know everything about. They knocked Fnatic into the lower brackets at the CGS lan only to be defeated in a 2 map thriller in the finals in a match to quote PlaZma "We played like spastics".
Fnatic find themselves in the losers bracket after a thrilling double overtime match with LowLandLions (19-16). They then went on to rage DEFEATERS (13-2) and now face one of their rivals Dignitas. As mentioned they managed to win the CGS Lan finals over them recently and we shall no doubt see this battle of the giants repeated in the summer but for now they are two fairly inactive teams. Mintr claims they will start to ramp up their activity in July so it will be interesting to see how much pride the players have when facing each other tonight.
TF2 ESL WB Round 2 - 21:00 CET Sunday 22nd June - excello vs Pandemic - Bad Lands, Gravel Pit
excello are possibly the 2nd best team in europe currently, 2nd only to Four-Kings. They recently came 2nd in the ETF2L Premier League. They defeated uber in the play-offs so far and Four-Kings await the victor tonight.
Pandemic are undoubtedly the top US team right now and kudos to them for coming and playing an online european league such as the ESL. They knocked out The Last Resort in round 1 and will be looking to face the european number 1 should they take victory tonight.
