RtCW2 unveiled at E3?

As rumour has it, there is a high possibility for an announcement of Return to Castle Wolfenstein™'s sequel at next weeks E3 by id Software and Raven Software. Coverage partner for this years E3 exposition 'Spike-TV' stated in a press release that id and Raven software are planning to unveil new information regarding an upcoming gaming project. In detail they said:

Also, tune in for more world exclusive surprises including something special from id Software and Raven Software"[/b].

As Wolfenstein fans we of course hope for the long expected RtCW2. A project between Raven and id should even strengthen our hopes as RtCW2 was going to be produced by just these two companies.

Which gaming project is going to be introduced, is obviously not sure yet, only time can tell. Whether there is a totally new game to come, a further Quake or Doom sequel or even a mix of some game series (ala ET:QW) could only be seen next week in Los Angelos.

john carmack did talk about a new game they are on, something really new, and no not their RAGE game. something different, using his revoluionary onetexture trick engine and stuff.

I guess you are talking about the megatexture technology which was already implemented in ET:QW, besides that, ID has been working on IDTECH5, which is the new engine being used in RAGE.

As far as i know, the only game being developed by ID and Raven is... let's call it RtCW2, and as it has been shown, it's a Wolfenstein related game.

It won't have q3 engine, so it won't feel like ET. Sad, but true. However, it might still be a good game, "good" because of realism, graphics and story, but not good for competetive playing.

ETQW has the same engine, so etqw players will own in RTCW2 :P

Only difference is that "RTCW2" will be using the Quake 4 codebase whereas ET:QW used the Doom 3 codebase as far as I know. This might mean RTCW2 will have a TV mode ported from Quake 4, but I doubt that's a priority for raven ;x

As with all sequels (after more than a year or so), it will have the same "theme" as the original, but will be different enough that all the hardcore fans (ie most people on crossfire) instantly flame and hate it without giving it a chance. But I don't have great hopes for it even if they do give it a chance, any game designed (at least in part) to be played on consoles has dubious credentials for serious PC gaming in my eyes.

since rtcw was a remake of wolf3d, imo there is really high chance for rtcw2 being a remake of spear of destiny, which was a prequel to wolf3d released shortly after.

I don't see the sequel being as good. RTCW multiplayer still is the best around today and trying to modernize it to compete with other games will lead to worse gameplay.
