Videogame company id Software has now confirmed QuakeLive for QuakeCon 2009.
id Software will hold its annual QuakeCon event from August 13-16, 2009, in Dallas, Texas at the Hilton Anatole Hotel.Described by the developer as "the world's ultimate video game festival and party", QuakeCon 2009 will, as always, be free. The event will host North America's largest bring-your-own-computer LAN party, according to id, with places for almost 3,000 gamers to hook their systems up and play on the company's network. There'll be "big-money pro tournaments", featuring id Software's new free-to-play, web-based Quake Live, and the event will also offer plenty in the way of entertainment for those that don't want to take their computer, with "contests, entertainment, announcements, panel discussions, and parties" each day.
There'll also be plenty of gaming and technology companies exhibiting upcoming products in the 35,000 square foot venue.

edit: oh and first
FIRST!
Edit: almost
Thing is that pressure should be upon it these coming weeks/months if it's going to be a succes :)
quakeworld FTW!
I simply meant that I'll be lobbying in every way I can for ET
But do it together with Toss and Adacore.
feels like 1999 \o/
NAIZ
I don't know much about Q3, but I'd say they're quite skilled on the overall scale, given that pod1 (a good CPM player) gave a close fight with fox (a good VQ3 player with some CPM practice), though fox won (in CPM). Not sure if that's what you're implying.

tho i doubt he would win if jonathan vo0 or rat showed up, after some practice
also the fact that cpm god vo0 failed in vq3.
edit: also don't get me wrong, i do think cpm is better than vq3 and more fun, but for big (LAN) tourneys i think vq3 is better and requiers more skill
main news for esports, quakecon, id software, use your filter!
edit: fuck you :(
