A formal announcement for RtCW-Cup 3 outlining our hopes and dreams for what could be another successful RtCW-Cup.

Past RtCW-Cup's have been well played, with few dropouts or forfeited games - something that we aim to continue going into this upcoming competition. Something that was lacking in past cups was real support, hosting or sponsorship - this has now changed with hosting brought to us by YCN-Hosting and great support from crossfire.

We also hope to announce some prizes, but this is yet to be finalised (also a small reason in the minor delay for the tournament) but we hope there will be something for all podium finishers in this edition.

Sign ups are now officially open!


Any news or dates on the competition will be updated asap in the Sticky thread in the RtCW forums http://www.crossfire.nu/?x=forum&mode=item&id=22969 keep an eye on the main post for any updates.


The list of teams which we had previously will get invites to the cup page - this will happen over the next week. Please make sure you have signed your team up to crossfire, how you do this is shown in the Cup thread. All players will need to be added to the lineup to compete in RtCW-Cup by the sign up deadline to be announced later, but likely around March 8th-14th.

The current hope is to have 8-16 teams, more space can and will be made available if we manage to get more. If we get at least 8 teams we plan to have a groupstage then a double elimination knockout for lower and higher placed teams, every team that plays in the cup should get at least 4-5 games.

There will also be the 3on3 cup a week before the main 6on6 one - more news will follow in the thread linked above.

How is that possible? We had like 15 people in the line-up and we only have to play 1 war a week in the cup :/
Maybe let's recruit a few here on xfire, lot's of people are searching.

Mhm not interested to make a new clan or just let liquids alive with a whole new line-up? There are dozens of people looking for a clan on xfire to play in that cup so it's easy to get 4-6 or more skilled players.

Im a bit confused why it is not cdkey free. The cup is sponsored by YCN. They can/do provide cdkey-free servers.

I am a bit confused too ;) but reading through this post I see no mention of the cd keys. Where does it say its not cd key free?

There is no reason too, the argument about CD-Key free is that it would attract teams from other games that do not normally play RtCW.

With all the recent quick cups and the longer 'late xmas cup' all being CD-Key free and that no new teams participated makes it fairly pointless to do and would just make it harder for the admin team (RtCW-Cup 2 the biggest slow down were these 'new/other game' teams who didn't take it seriously and rarely ever had a full lineup ready)
