The first Quake Live LAN tournament since the game's official release yesterday is taking place this weekend at the Big Bang event in Ottumwa, Iowa. The best four American Quake Live players are in attendance to battle it out as a precursor to next weekend's QuakeCon.

United States of America Shane "rapha" Hendrixson, United States of America Tim "DaHanG" Fogarty, United States of America Brian "derstrukt" Flander and United States of America Chance "chance" Lacina will all be in action, starting soon!

United States of America Marcus "djWHEAT" Graham and United States of America Rod "Slasher" Breslau will be broadcasting the event.

Sorry, I could give a fuck about Quakecon anymore. They have screwed over the ET and RTCW community way to many times. And now only Quake is at this years venue? What the fuck are they thinking. At least have some kind of team based objective game. I don't care if it's ETQW or what.

well thats not really true. its just the only decent FPS that still has a good amount of great players interested in playing competition. I dont know how anyone can find any game as interesting to watch as rtcw/et were in the days when they were actually popular. Of course im biased but im way more interested in watching a mix of players work together to complete objectives than watching one player and being all impressed by how good his aim is from 40 hours a week of practice. Dont get me wrong qlive pro matches are alright to watch but theres something more interesting about watching teamplay than 1v1.

Cod4 is a fun game but obviously a COD series game will never be at qcon. Maybe brink will be good, but im doubtful

QUAKE LIVE matches are extremely exciting in my opinion. When there's overtime and there are 30.000$ to win - I don't know what is more exciting. An ET match was never that exiting in my opinion : )

sorry but maybe the fact that you registered in october 09 explains to me why you think there was never an et match that was exciting like that. Not trying to bash you but the recent ET scene is nothing compared to the old one and the old rtcw scene

Ehm you are wrong, I was around for much longer, my old account was deleted. End of discussion.

Though I am around since 2007 I have watched excited matches from the past with shoutcast and have quite a great knowledge of the teams that dominated ET, even in 2004.

then we are of different opinions of what is fun to watch i suppose. I also dont like watching quake for the fact that its aliens jumping around shooting laser beams at eachother. I know its just a videogame and i dont play videogames for realism at all, but theres still something in me that would rather watch something a little more realistic than quake.

For those interested,

I recently stated on this past weekend's International Video Game Hall of Fame event and Live On Three that I would be providing scores, interviews and features coverage live from QuakeCon 2010 for Tek-9.org and Crossfire.nu. Due to circumstances beyond my control, I will no longer be attending QuakeCon, and will not be able to make any on-site updates.

I will still attempt to make off-site updates and coverage from watching the stream and talking to my contacts at the event. Sorry to those who wanted more content!
