The EuroCup Playoffs Thus Far

It has been three weeks since the EuroCup playoffs began and with 8 matches behind us it is time to look back before we gear up for the final stages of the tournament.

Upper Bracket Round 1

UB Round 1 was the first stage of the playoffs in which the eight best teams from the group stage face each other and get to test the waters.

Dignitas and Impact beat Aero and MVP without anyone expecting anything different, but the results between zZz vs STH and e-WAVE vs Giants were a bit harder to predict.

Giants, who just a couple of days before the match beat e-WAVE in another competition expected to do the same again, yet e-WAVE came prepared this time and claimed the victory after a deciding map was needed.

When STH had to face zZz it seemed as though this match would go into a decider as well, but zZz easily shut STH down.

Upper Bracket Round 2 and Lower Bracket Round 1

In the Upper Bracket team Dignitas faced e-WAVE and, as history dictates, beat the Canadian team to move on to the UB Finals. Meanwhile, Impact faced zZz whp proved to be no match for eVo's team.

In the Lower Bracket it was do or die for the four teams who lost in the last round. Aero had to face Giants, who recently removed kapaa from their roster and reinstated filus, but their problems were apparently not solved by doing so, and lost to Aero 4:2.

MVP who lost to Impact were given the task of beating STH, and so they did. It seemed as though STH's victory over ECW in the group stage was nothing more than a fluke.

After losing twice the disappointed Giants and STH left the cup.

Upper Bracket Final and Lower Bracket 2

This week one of the most interesting and important matches of this EuroCup will take place as Dignitas will battle Impact in the Upper Bracket Final to determine who will secure their place in the EuroCup finals.

But let us not forget the Lower Bracket 2 matches as Aero, who surprised many by beating Giants, will face zZz.
Last not but least, e-WAVE will face the forceful MVP tonight at 22:00cet.
