Starcraft II:[/u]
The Global Challenge at Comic Con in New York City finished earlier this evening as Korean Zerg DongRaeGu took home the Gold, with fellow Korean Zerg FruitDealer in Silver. Touted by some as a "coin-flip' between DRG and TOP" before the event started, TOP was swept 3-0 by Gatored (who eventually went on to take 4th place) leaving FruitDealer to contest first place.
The Korean dominance of Starcraft over the past decade had come into some question recently due to the impressive performances of some foreign players and many saw this weekends IEM and MLG tournaments as a showcase for the current state-of-play between the respective sides of the globe. Starcraft II in 2011 has brought the Korean players over to the Western tournaments and vis versa, enabling both to embrace the other players as regular competitors in their tournaments.
The final results for IEM Season VI Global Challenge New York Starcraft II tournament were:
DongRaeGu - $6,500
FruitDealer $3,300
KiLLeR £1,750
4th Gatored $1,250

Counter-Strike:[/u]
SK Gaming won the IEM 6 New York final 2:0 over WinFakt to take home $16,000. After WinFakt's Bo3 performance against Na`Vi in the semi-final of SEC some might have hoped for a closer series against the Swedes but that wasn't to be, with the favourites dominating the final without difficulty.
The final results for the IEM Season VI Global Challenge New York Counter-Strike tournament were:
SK-Gaming - $16,000
WinFakt - $8,000
mTw - $4,500
4th UMX US - $3,100
