oxid beat a spirited Lost Soldiers team 4:0 to advance to the second round of the Battle For Berlin Loser Bracket. After being crushed at the hands of humm3l 3 days ago, oxid were keen to not slip up against their underdog opponents, but it didn't start the way they might have planned. Lost Soldiers started the game with a good defence on adlernest (helped by buzzer taking advantage of gr0ss not paying attention with the documents!) and giving themselves a fighting chance at taking the first map. It wasn't to be however, as oxid defended resolutely and despite a late scramble at the transmitter, held on to win the map. The loser's choice was supply and they soon showed why as they attacked the first stage successfully in under 2 minutes and built the command post a minute later. Once they begun attacking the depot stage their pushes slowed and became disjointed, letting oxid back into the game. Eventually Lost Soldiers set a time of near 13 minutes. Wanting to end the game quickly, oxid put on their gamer-faces and breezed through a non-existent defence to set a fast time and secure a 4:0 victory.
We must say good-bye to the German side Lost Soldiers, who despite a good showing here today will be rueing their lowly seed placement which gave them two hard games and a tough task of progressing. Their compatriots oxid will have to up their game as they will now go on to face the loser TAG and G2P.

k1ck made short work of their opponents as they coasted into the second round of the Loser Bracket to set up a game against the loser of Queens and inteRaction. k1ck defended first on adlernest and with their superior aim and teamplay (and a mobile-MG) they easily fullheld Epic. The second round was over within a few minutes as the Estonian's had no trouble in planting the dyno, building the cp and securing the documents. The loser's choice was radar and they began in defence. Unfortunately for them, k1ck were in no mood to prolong the inevitable and raced to an early advantage by securing the main bunker and the command post. Both sides traded frags and positioning before the Allies imposed their will once more and despite the best efforts of a sneaky beAsty, k1ck JyrkZ secured the West Radar parts to set a time of 5:53. At the beginning of the second round, Epic finally came to life and secured both main and side within the opening 2 minutes. Too bad for them they left their revival a little too late and they didn't give themselves enough time to snatch victory.
This means that Epic are out of the tournament and we will see the victorious k1ck in action again next Thursday.

disclaimer: Team-Aero are now known as Splendid
Splendid, boasting their new name, took the game right to their opponents from the start of adlernest as they went on to set a highly competitive time against Glitz. The map wasn't even close as hvK & company defended with consummate ease to take an early 2:0 lead. The loser's map choice was sw_goldrush_te and much like with the other games so far this tournament, a much closer match was to be fought out on the home map of the loser. Glitz managed to repair the tank on their first rush which set the the tone for the rest of the round. Splendid weren't about to go down without a fight and put up much sterner resistance at the later stages and managed to drag out a defence time of over 11 minutes. Their attack didn't fare so well and inspired by the massively experienced Kevin, Glitz were able to defend the time they set and take us to a decider. Once the elimination process was complete we were left with the best decider map of all time: radar. Splendid attacked first and despite securing both main and side relatively quickly, they struggled to get their hands on the West Radar parts. In true last ditch fashion, Glitz had all 6 players fall back behind West and the Allies were unable to break through - until with 15 seconds remaining in the round, panic set in on the Axis side which allowed the Allies to snatch the parts and make a run for the truck. A fracas ensued with players from both sides diving for the fallen documents on the main road before a big man double frag from hvK enabled Splendid to set a time of 11.57. Glitz made a fast start to the following round as 6 quick frags let them walk straight in to capture the flag and plant dynamite at side. Once the command post was in Allied hands, a spread attack was met with a spread defence as both sides wrestled for control of the map. With half the round gone the East parts were secured, giving the Allies 6 minutes to lay siege to the West Radar parts. Wave after wave of Glitz pressure came but despite their best efforts, they could not find a way through. Their best chance came as Kevin found himself on top of the parts with 20 seconds remaining, only to sucumb to the goldfish-mine, and with that ended their hopes of progressing into the next round. Splendid took the nailbiting decider to finish 4:2 victors.
This result means we will be seeing Glitz exit the tournament and Splendid will go on to face the loser of the game between MouseControl and b2k - a game which can be followed here on Crossfire this coming Thursday.

Turboapinat suffered a closely fought first round loss to TAG and went into tonight's game coming off the back of another narrow loss, this time in the EuroCup against Queens. After being a loyal player for the Finns for many years now, Swanidius has recently jumped ship and perhaps some of his former allegiance showed on adlernest when he was gifted the chance to secure the documents, he hesitated, giving the Turboapinat players the chance to respawn and mow him down inches from the documents, and they subsequently ran them to the transmitter to set a time of 5:26. bSTURZ came flying out the traps and quickly planted the dynamite to blow first stage and build CP to give themselves over 3 minutes attacking the document stage. The Finns defended well but weren't guarding spawn and with under a minute remaining they let Testi and his panzerfaust slip through for a potentially game deciding spawnkill. Fortunately for Turboapinat, Testi fired one of the worst panzer shots I've ever seen as he thumped the anti-tank rocket into the concrete floor miles away from any Axis player. This was virtually the last action of the map as bSTURZ fell 0:2 behind after adlernest. They picked supply as their map choice and began attacking the flag stage knowing that if they failed to set a time they would be out of the competition. Each stage took the Allies a few minutes as the Axis began to etch out a respectable time to defend. With time running out, some impressive bSTURZ teamplay saw engineers escorted upstairs to build the crane controls and then lead the truck out of the depot gate to finish with a time of 13:06. crittie was leading the way for the Finns, raking up almost 6k damage on defence and with over 13 minutes with which to increase that, the Finns were favoured to advance. The Axis never really managed to set up a good defence on any one stage and the Allies rolled through quite convincingly to bring the truck home with over 5 minutes left to spare. In the end Turboapinat were simply the better team and they proved too much for a bSTURZ line-up who much like Lost Soldiers before them, struggled against two of the better sides in the Battle For Berlin.
Turboapinat will play against the loser of Anexis and disQonnect, in what will surely be a very close encounter. Unfortunately where there are winners there are also losers, and we have to say goodbye to bSTURZ.
