Germany oxid beat a spirited Germany Lost Soldiers team 4:0 to advance to the second round of the Battle For Berlin Loser Bracket. After being crushed at the hands of Russia humm3l 3 days ago, Germany oxid were keen to not slip up against their underdog opponents, but it didn't start the way they might have planned. Germany Lost Soldiers started the game with a good defence on adlernest (helped by Belgium buzzer taking advantage of Germany gr0ss not paying attention with the documents!) and giving themselves a fighting chance at taking the first map. It wasn't to be however, as oxid defended resolutely and despite a late scramble at the transmitter, held on to win the map. The loser's choice was supply and they soon showed why as they attacked the first stage successfully in under 2 minutes and built the command post a minute later. Once they begun attacking the depot stage their pushes slowed and became disjointed, letting Germany oxid back into the game. Eventually Germany Lost Soldiers set a time of near 13 minutes. Wanting to end the game quickly, Germany oxid put on their gamer-faces and breezed through a non-existent defence to set a fast time and secure a 4:0 victory.

We must say good-bye to the German side Germany Lost Soldiers, who despite a good showing here today will be rueing their lowly seed placement which gave them two hard games and a tough task of progressing. Their compatriots Germany oxid will have to up their game as they will now go on to face the loser Europe TAG and Europe G2P.

Quote by oxid.stRayThe game went good for our side. Wasn't too one-sided but still better than expected. eujen had a great game! ggwp!

Quote by Lost Soldiers.laNgogg to oxid. adler was a bit unlucky at the defence but all in all this was the score everyone expected. Also a bad warmup for our 2 OpenCup matches tonight (hi to a.toon and iNmotion) Also special greetz to buzzer - we miss you <3

Estonia k1ck made short work of their opponents as they coasted into the second round of the Loser Bracket to set up a game against the loser of Europe Queens and Czech Republic inteRaction. Estonia k1ck defended first on adlernest and with their superior aim and teamplay (and a mobile-MG) they easily fullheld France Epic. The second round was over within a few minutes as the Estonian's had no trouble in planting the dyno, building the cp and securing the documents. The loser's choice was radar and they began in defence. Unfortunately for them, Estonia k1ck were in no mood to prolong the inevitable and raced to an early advantage by securing the main bunker and the command post. Both sides traded frags and positioning before the Allies imposed their will once more and despite the best efforts of a sneaky Austria beAsty, Estonia k1ck JyrkZ secured the West Radar parts to set a time of 5:53. At the beginning of the second round, France Epic finally came to life and secured both main and side within the opening 2 minutes. Too bad for them they left their revival a little too late and they didn't give themselves enough time to snatch victory.

This means that France Epic are out of the tournament and we will see the victorious Estonia k1ck in action again next Thursday.

Quote by k1ck.mantVery nice games, walle was with us - that's why we won

disclaimer: Europe Team-Aero are now known as Europe Splendid

Europe Splendid, boasting their new name, took the game right to their opponents from the start of adlernest as they went on to set a highly competitive time against Estonia Glitz. The map wasn't even close as United Kingdom hvK & company defended with consummate ease to take an early 2:0 lead. The loser's map choice was sw_goldrush_te and much like with the other games so far this tournament, a much closer match was to be fought out on the home map of the loser. Estonia Glitz managed to repair the tank on their first rush which set the the tone for the rest of the round. Europe Splendid weren't about to go down without a fight and put up much sterner resistance at the later stages and managed to drag out a defence time of over 11 minutes. Their attack didn't fare so well and inspired by the massively experienced Belgium Kevin, Estonia Glitz were able to defend the time they set and take us to a decider. Once the elimination process was complete we were left with the best decider map of all time: radar. Europe Splendid attacked first and despite securing both main and side relatively quickly, they struggled to get their hands on the West Radar parts. In true last ditch fashion, Estonia Glitz had all 6 players fall back behind West and the Allies were unable to break through - until with 15 seconds remaining in the round, panic set in on the Axis side which allowed the Allies to snatch the parts and make a run for the truck. A fracas ensued with players from both sides diving for the fallen documents on the main road before a big man double frag from United Kingdom hvK enabled Europe Splendid to set a time of 11.57. Estonia Glitz made a fast start to the following round as 6 quick frags let them walk straight in to capture the flag and plant dynamite at side. Once the command post was in Allied hands, a spread attack was met with a spread defence as both sides wrestled for control of the map. With half the round gone the East parts were secured, giving the Allies 6 minutes to lay siege to the West Radar parts. Wave after wave of Estonia Glitz pressure came but despite their best efforts, they could not find a way through. Their best chance came as Belgium Kevin found himself on top of the parts with 20 seconds remaining, only to sucumb to the goldfish-mine, and with that ended their hopes of progressing into the next round. Europe Splendid took the nailbiting decider to finish 4:2 victors.

This result means we will be seeing Estonia Glitz exit the tournament and Europe Splendid will go on to face the loser of the game between Benelux MouseControl and Poland b2k - a game which can be followed here on Crossfire this coming Thursday.

Quote by Splendid.hvKWe knew going into the game it was going to be a hard game, I had a feeling that they were going to pick goldrush if we won adler, and we were always prepared for 3 maps and we always had radar in mind. When we played radar against them last time it was just as close, but we knew going into it we could win - but we had no idea it would be that close again.

Quote by glitz.KevinI think the skill of the two teams was very evenly matched, perhaps even a tiny bit in our favor. The problem was that they were better organized, especially on adlernest. As far as I'm concerned they deserved this victory because of what I previously mentioned. I am of the opinion, however, that if this match was scheduled 2 or 3 weeks later that we would have won. I'm not saying that we would have steamrolled over them (before you misunderstand me), but I do think that we would have won, hypothetically speaking.

Finland Turboapinat suffered a closely fought first round loss to Europe TAG and went into tonight's game coming off the back of another narrow loss, this time in the EuroCup against Europe Queens. After being a loyal player for the Finns for many years now, Finland Swanidius has recently jumped ship and perhaps some of his former allegiance showed on adlernest when he was gifted the chance to secure the documents, he hesitated, giving the Finland Turboapinat players the chance to respawn and mow him down inches from the documents, and they subsequently ran them to the transmitter to set a time of 5:26. Europe bSTURZ came flying out the traps and quickly planted the dynamite to blow first stage and build CP to give themselves over 3 minutes attacking the document stage. The Finns defended well but weren't guarding spawn and with under a minute remaining they let Netherlands Testi and his panzerfaust slip through for a potentially game deciding spawnkill. Fortunately for Finland Turboapinat, Netherlands Testi fired one of the worst panzer shots I've ever seen as he thumped the anti-tank rocket into the concrete floor miles away from any Axis player. This was virtually the last action of the map as Europe bSTURZ fell 0:2 behind after adlernest. They picked supply as their map choice and began attacking the flag stage knowing that if they failed to set a time they would be out of the competition. Each stage took the Allies a few minutes as the Axis began to etch out a respectable time to defend. With time running out, some impressive Europe bSTURZ teamplay saw engineers escorted upstairs to build the crane controls and then lead the truck out of the depot gate to finish with a time of 13:06. Finland crittie was leading the way for the Finns, raking up almost 6k damage on defence and with over 13 minutes with which to increase that, the Finns were favoured to advance. The Axis never really managed to set up a good defence on any one stage and the Allies rolled through quite convincingly to bring the truck home with over 5 minutes left to spare. In the end Finland Turboapinat were simply the better team and they proved too much for a Europe bSTURZ line-up who much like Germany Lost Soldiers before them, struggled against two of the better sides in the Battle For Berlin.

Finland Turboapinat will play against the loser of Europe Anexis and Russia disQonnect, in what will surely be a very close encounter. Unfortunately where there are winners there are also losers, and we have to say goodbye to Europe bSTURZ.

Quote by turbot.walleswanidius as bad as expected (c) crittie
