Gaming News

After a SOPA overload in the past few weeks, it seems that there have been a series of mini-victories in a war that is still ongoing. US Congress shelved SOPA due to the huge public opposition and lack of support from US President Barack Obama - however, Congress has continued to try and push similar bills through. ACTA is the latest in the seemingly growing list of bills aimed at censoring the internet. The supposed threat of ACTA has been debated, with certain sources claiming that the bill is much stricter, more outrageous and frankly, far worse. Do your bit, read up on it and sign petitions.

There are some major changes to the scheduling, but as a casual viewer you probably won't notice much has changed. In short, they have moved away from their previous format and will now be running a new championship each season - starting with the Winter 2012 season on January 31st. StarCraft II will remain as the flagship competition for the upcoming year. Full details can be found on the MLG site.

Korea, Republic of MMA
Ukraine DIMAGA
Ukraine Kas

Compared to some of the larger scale international events in recent months, IEM Kiev had a relatively weaker player pool, but take nothing away from Korea, Republic of MMA who overcame the home-field advantage Ukrainian Ukraine DIMAGA in the Grand Final. Fan favourite Ukraine White-Ra had an early exit at the hands of Ukraine Kas and the ever-improving Sweden NaNiwa was dumped out 3-1 by Korea, Republic of Zenio.

Ukraine Na'Vi
Sweden SK-Gaming
Russia Moscow Five

Ukraine Na'Vi are the IEM VI Kiev champions after they emphatically beat Sweden SK-Gaming in the Grand Final. After dominating the CounterStrike scene in 2010, the Ukrainian's were without a major international win over 11 months. They came up against a red hot Swedish side, in what could have been seen as a dream CS final. As it turned out, Ukraine Na'Vi absolutely dominated Sweden SK-Gaming in all but the pistol rounds.

Are Ukraine Na'Vi the best CS 1.6 team of all time?

Russia Moscow Five
United States of America Team SoloMid
United States of America Dignitas

Russia Moscow Five came through a highly competitive League of Legends field to take the gold at IEM VI Kiev. Their opponents, United States of America Team SoloMid were one of the pre-tournament favourites, but they were thoroughly outclassed by the impressive Russian team. Russia Diamondprox of Russia Moscow Five was named tournament MVP for his outstanding contribution towards his side's success.

QuoteNext Monday will be Boxing Day so I doubt I'll be able to write, so until then, Merry Christmas!
Nice read like usual
no Na'Vi are not :X
dignitas lol team are improving quite a bit, but the gap is now probably quite obvious to them. harsh looks at their picks and decisions need to be made for them to make the next step up.
I loved M5's creative setups and plays, I have a feeling they will be on top for quite a while until tsm/clg can counter them.

honestly I think dignitas just had bad preparation prior to the event with Voyboy having his final exams and I believe scarra also had some kind of exam period the week before Kiev. Nobody was able to stop M5 this weekend anyway, the game TSM took seemed more of a lucky situation than TSM outplaying or countering the M5 tactics.
