ESL 3on3 Country Championship

It is time to write a new page in the Enemy Territory history as Electronics Sports League decided to host their very first nations cup this year, in the 3on3 format! A lot of players contacted us to host this competition and we have finally decided to make it possible so that players enjoy our league even more! You can also find more details in the special ESL Country Championship newspost that we have created!

57 teams signed up so far and there are only 48 hours left till we close the signups and we start the first stage - the qualifiers! Hurry up and sign up if you still want to represent your country!

20 countries have teams in this first edition of the Country Championship! It's still not too late to signup!

The first stage of the tournament is based on qualifiers for each nation where only 1 team / nation will qualify into the Groupstage! Everyone can participate in the qualifiers so what are you waiting for? Create a team and sign up!

We ask players to create a special team for this competition as we will only allow teams to have maximum 6 players in it. In order to control this, we will lock the teams that signed up, so you won't be able to add other players after the qualifier has started! ESL Admins will also help you with creating teams! Click here to see a guide on how to create a team!

As for the nationality issue, we have decided that for countries where there are few players, those that have the country nationality but are not living in it will be allowed to play in this Country Championship! More information about this and about the competition can be found in the special ESL Country Championship newspost!

the point of NC isn't for the less good players to get a chance, it's for the strongest team to get a chance in order to take the nation to victory.. I hope your idea NEVER happens in 6on6 NC.

a) it will not get interest from spectators, people can make comments all day long but without allstars nobody will be interested in watching (it's important).
b) why spoonfeed people? work hard and prove you're worthy of the team and you'll get in, look at Kevji, kiwi, boNg, etc. and all of the old AoW guys. prove you're good and they let you in team germany.

Why would you do that?

Some nations (like Poland

) could probably field 2 or even 3 LU's that could contest for the

Pocal, while other nations won't even stand a chance with their best team. This rule makes no sense really, but ok gl with the cup its a good initiative, but a bad rule.

in games like CoD/CS I'm sure they could field around 8 strong lineups per nation, it doesn't mean more than 1 per nation should qualify to the 5on5 groups/playoffs =] it's to save stupid things like seeing 2 same nations in the final, takes the thrill away from the NC aspect which was always "my country is better than yours."

e: also it should force people to play actively to ensure they are the ones to qualify =P

Imo the final should be between the two best 3vs3 teams around, doesnt matter if they're from the same country.
And you're dragging the lvl of competition down drasticly by only allowing 1 team per nation, wich makes the cup way less interesting.

Worse teams (or not as much strong teams) => more 'bad' opponents for the better teams => lower performance overall (playing vs low teams doesnt make u motivated/better) => less intense games => less interest overall (players + specs) etc etc etc

My whole point is that you're removing a lot of strong teams (again, poland , finland, germany,...) by doing those qualifiers and there will be more 'low' teams from the less skilled countrys, who'll get raped in group stage anyway.

Also, there will be a PL/DE/FI qualifier in order to get the strongest team that the country can provide.

I have no idea, I'm not active at all, but as I see a lot of nerds playing on gtv, there's no doubt some country's could provide 2-3 teams that could all fight for a top 5 spot.
And I'm quite sure some ppl would want to try and get 3 players just for this cup, but with this format they probably won't and if they do, the qualifiers will be more interesting than the cup itself (only the latter stages might get interesting).

Love ya but disagree, last nc for 3on3 they allowed each country to have multiple teams (granted it was only more for the ones that have a bigger et community) like germany, finland, netherlands etc and the cup didn't get very many viewers, if i recall the final was like pulling teeth to get it played. Having multiple teams from the same country takes away from the excitement of nc imo - like someone else mentioned above it's like trying to prove you're a better nation so it kind of takes away from that.

Yeah we include the NZ guys in everything and there are probably 8 or so decent players from NZ playing in the draft cup. Also chrisis (also from NZ) might be shoutcasting some games that are early enough (featured in the opening sequence of mo*vindication).

Too much players is because we've restricted the maximum amount of players in a team to 6.
About 2on2 leagues error, I guess you are saying that you're getting the error "Player_already_in_league" which means that someone else from your team signed up with another team.

Give me the link to your team and tell me your line-up for this competition and I'll clear it out for you.

Creating new or sub team for one cup seems a bit stupid in my opinion. Wouldn't it be easier if you just create a section in the team like you can create groups in cb and then add some rules to that section instead.

Creating a section in the team = sub-teams -> already available, although you can't switch the users from the main team to the subteam without telling them to click join on the subteam.

Creating teams exactly for a cup/ladder etc makes it more easier for players and it comes with an error free package ! :)
