Diablo III Release Date Announced!

Blizzard CEO and co-founder Mike Morhaime said:

What is all the hype about? And am I the only one who hasn't played the serie at all?

I only played Diablo II & LoD and I can tell you that it is one of the best games :D

Well it was one of the first hack and slash games with such a great multiplayer. There was alot of content because after you had beaten the game you had a nightmare mode and hell mode which you could enter with the same character. And hell was really hard alone, only some classes can solo it and some even only after they farmed some great items, so you had to team up to beat it.

Best known for its item fever though. Every act (chapter) had an endboss who had a chance of dropping rare items. Alot of the fun in the game was working your way through the game and finding and identifying possible great items. The gameplay was alot of fun aswell :)

d1 got the nightmare and hell mode as well only in b.Net or solo with the Expansion hellfire

It did not have the vastly different environements, immense diversity in items or the completly different classes. So there was alot less to be done. The game was also alot shorter and easier overall.
