In what can only be described as a david vs goliath final, caermonia have pulled off a string of phenominal results to get to the grand final and require just one more feat of brilliance to secure the biggest prize in the benelux scene. In their path lie second seeded digitalMind, who until a 14-12 scare with suXus looked destined for the title. Burgundy kicked off the final, and dM were straight under attack from a caermonia side who had beaten both n!faculty and suXus to into the final, after initially being seeded fifh they had nothing to lose. However, it was the experience that paid off that saw caer take second and dM first! Hit read more for the full report of the final.

1st - Netherlands digitalMind
2nd - Netherlands caermonia
3rd - Netherlands suXus

Caermonia charged into a 9-6 lead and quickly converted into a map win, and took the final to one more map to decide the title. All started well for caer who took a 2-1 lead and then converted that into 4-3, however, they leaked valuble axis rounds and went into the half 5-5 with many an oppourtunity to have extended a lead.
As the second half started, it was digitalMind that picked up the first two rounds and looked extremely comfortable, as they raced to make sure they wouldnt be the next big name victim of the fifth seed. By now, dM looked good and picked up the next round without losing a man, at 8-5 they continued confidently with an early grenade and mp44 frag to put the pressure firmly onto caer, after a strong B rush dM were able to convert their advantage and pickup a 9-5 lead surely headed for glory.
However, former dM bennY was not going down without a fight, picking up two frags in the 15th round to remind dM they were ina game. A tense 1on1 with roel and lindonz saw lindon pick up the frag and round bringing us back to 9-6. With dM one round away from match point, they picked up the early frag on bennY and then followed up to block a B attack with roEL landing a big frag, only to be denied by the last man of caer as he pushed into B, at 9-7 caer were not dead yet!
lindonz picked up the early frag in the 17th round to put caer into a powerplay situation and possibly able to pull the game back to within one round. Caer moved on to plant and then successfully cover the bomb wih men to spare to cloud the game with uncertainly once more, as dM were now reeling from 3 rounds lost in a row. Round 18 opened cagily as we had to wait a minute for the first frags, which both went to dM and they seemed destined for match point. However left on his own, lindonz picked up two frags and a bomb plant to once more remind dM they had a real opponent on the server, finally culled and then defused we were left with 2 rounds and just 1 of them needed by dM.
dM started the final round with two early frags and after bennY disconnected the nails were hammered into the caer coffin as dM pushed on to pick up the final frags and the championship here at Netgamez 2006. dM were made to work hard, and after dropping one map and needing overtime in another, it wasnt easy but its a victory and a confidence boost ahead of the upcoming busy winter season!
