Crossfire Spring Tournaments 2014

Crossfire Tournaments return for Spring 2014 and this time around we have decided to add a couple of games to the mix. Firstly we will continue having an Enemy Territory tournament as well as bringing in CS:GO and RTCW for this season.

Sign ups for all competitions will open in the next week or so.

Enemy Territory
As before, this will be a maximum of sixteen 6on6 teams with single elimination (double elimination if we get enough admin power) spanning upto 6 weeks. The tournament will start likely during the groupstage of CyberGamer and any team wishing to take part in this tournament have to be competing in CG EU ET Season 1. We will also be hosting the tournament on CG so that it will use CGAC.

Counter Strike: Global Offensive
We have added a CS:GO tournament to this season as we have had some talks with WarwitchTV and the MG42 crew and they will be casting a number of games over the course of the tournament. This tournament is open to Crossfire users and right now we are not sure how we will organise the teams, perhaps via draft but we will not be allowing any actual teams to play - this is a community 'fun' competition.

Return to Castle Wolfenstein
There will also be a 3on3 RTCW tournament this season in a league format, lots of ideas will be used in this one some of which some of you may already know, but more news on that in the future. This would be a tournament limited to European players (servers will be only European and there will be no antilag enabled) although I would be open to the option of having an NA tournament as well if there was enough interest and someone stepped up to run it. We will be hosting it on the RtCWCup.com website for ease of access for all of the RTCW scene and we will of course be having Warwitch enhance the entire experience with some top notch casting.

Please message myself or Artstar if you wish to assist in this or future Spring/Winter tournaments. We will need game admins to assist in making sure teams are organising their games on time for each competition.

gMen ready to roll
when can you sign up? is it 6v6 (ET?)
Sometime this week I hope. By next Sunday for sure.
Parent
csgo lets go
Awesome, CS:GO should be fun as well.
no 6on6 Cup for RTCW? :O
Most of the ppl prefer it...
was thinking the same :d
Parent
Would be definitely the right way to let RTCW die completely!
I know many players who don't want to play 3on3's. They gonna stop playing if there won't be a 6on6 cup i think.
IMO they should focus more on RTCW than ET. Many Players will come to RTCW then i think :D
Parent
they can focus on both, would be awesome to see a 6on6 rtcw cup , but you need sum more good admins for it, 3on3 can easily be done with 1
Parent
ye right.
would be too bad if there won't be a 6on6 Cup in rtcw.
they should promote rtcw as "free2Play" shooter. 1000 new players would be great :D
Parent
true that :)
Parent
6o6 way better for spectators, atleast it is for me
Parent
that's subjective. :P I enjoy both games and wouldn't say I definitely prefer one over the other, they're too different. 6on6 RtCW cups have been hosted by Estonia ZeD or Netherlands bully & co over the past year or more, I'm sure one of them will step up rather soon. :)
Parent
I like the csgo idea but why do u want to make it on a fun base? I mean there are enough players who switched 1 year ago to cs and that means imo we can get easily 8 teams who are making the tournament abit exciting! In the end its your choice und i would play anyways! Hf hosting!
"Change the entire way your tournament works so that it's easier for my team to win it!"
Parent
nah, i dont care about winning, i mean what does it bring us anyways? there are no prizes tho... i semi like the draft idea but still nobody here can seed any players i guess^^ thats why i think it would be abit more interesting and fun if everybody just play with their friends and mates and have some fun vs their old community lads
Parent
Idd there are no prizes so why do you care so much :S:S I believe this aint a big CS:GO community so fun tournament is great idea instead of serious tourney
Parent
Agree, ET at peak (2005 to 2007 imo) had no prizes (apart from lans ofc). Teams just wanted to win, that was enough motivation for them to play and practice like crazy.
Parent
There are probably plenty of ex-etplayers out there who now have a csgo team. With a bit of luck im sure you can get 8 teams together.
Parent
How many teams there are with a full ex-ET/RtCW player lineup though? Would just be a regular random CS:GO tournament if you allow all the non-ET/RtCW players to participate too. I guess 8 mix teams wouldn't be too hard to get together tho.
Parent
I never said a team full of former et/rtcw players. As for teams with atleast 1 former etplayer, there should be quite a few out there. and I don't think itll be just another regular random csgo cup.
and a draft concept in CSGO, I can't see working that well with the way the game works and the big skillgaps youll have within a team.
Parent
I know you didn't, it was just a build up for my 2nd sentence. Personally I just don't really like the idea of involving teams that include one or two ex-ET/RtCW players and others who have played CS for 10+ years and never heard of crossfire before. I don't know what the general opinion is, but at least I'd rather want to play against people I know from crossfire than random CS players, because there already are more than plenty of tournaments where you can do that.
Parent
In the end you should want fair and exciting games. I really dont see the problem if theres people playing that have never heard of CF. My team played against pannari's a couple of days ago and we had 2 pretty close games. There's gMen like specula said, plenty of finnish mixteams. Not sure whether an7ho still has a team. Germans aka stray and co. 8 teams should be very doable.
Parent
the entire point behind this is for the ET & RtCW community and minimal non community members. :P something like an online version of the CiC7 QL duel tournament, which didn't allow anyone who wasn't competing in the ET tournament (or had to have been a member of the Crossfire/ET community). this is more being hosted for fun purposes than pure competitive matches. if all goes well here, then things may move forward a few steps. :)
Parent
I understand, but I don't think draft will be as fun as lets say an ETdraft simply because of how the game works. and for future cups with actual teams I really hope you'll look into that later. There are so many exetplayers out there and with ET dying (like it nor not) hosting tournaments for CSGO wouldnt be such a bad idea.
Parent
I do get where you're coming from and attracting players from other communities (and games) is no negative thing. working with our own community is and will always be the primary focus, though. :P we could make tournaments for CS:GO and its already thriving competitive scene, but they aren't in need of our support. :D ET & RtCW players are.
Parent
or just allow teams which got 3/5 ex-ET/RtCW players in their lu or sth like that... far better then mix teams vs mix teams...

gMen got 2 teams afaik
fins can easily set up 2-3 teams
strays team
ramoz team
an7ho and co can set up 1 team
overload?! not sure if they r still palying
suiys team
I can set up 1 team
and many more last minutes teams

dont see the prob
Parent
I wont manage a team, just wanna play nothing more :D
Parent
so desperate to get 1st nineshapes pokal xD

only problem with draft idea are NOSHOWS. It always was an issue
Parent
Lan events > Pocals ;)
Parent
I think the idea is to have CF community drafted teams and not teams who have been praccing together for a year roll every other community team :) Though I agree I like the idea of actual teams better, just would be unfair to teams who are just mixing for fun (and this isn't a professional community anyway so)
Parent
Quoteand this isn't a professional community anyway so

avi for et pm me
csgo draft nice idea. avi for that
Planning to run something for DOTA2, what would people like?

I kinda doubt if we have enough people for real 5on5 cup, but 1on1? Or some 5on5 league where people switch teams & places, in the end we add stats and see who is the most valuable? Or maybe just by winnings so that it doesn't get twisted by one-game-wonders or carry/mid -favourable.
needs streamers !!
CS:GO and RtCW 3on3 will be covered by WarwitchTV when available.
Parent
aight good job guys

like the CSGO part :)
avi for csgo and admin (if aniky is not involved with this at any point)
aniky head admin of crossfire, clanbase, gamestv, cybergaymer, esl, ettourney. no way he's not involved here
Parent
is this really still going on? :D
Parent
not really, I think he finally gave up. It's funny how he suddenly "disappeared" after being kicked out of CG, though he claimed so hard that he's one of the best admins no matter what, with lots of admin-success etc xd
Parent
Why was he kicked anyway?:D
Parent
is he really still an admin? :D
Parent

I like the idea of draft CSGO, would be nice to have a break from the 'overly competitive' CF scene and just have fun mix games with people from the community. To have a more fun based experience for a change with CF rather then a purely competitive based one. And before all the rage comments, I enjoy competitive gaming and that's a lot of fun too, just think this community could use a little less 'competitive related whine/rage' and just enjoy some fun games together :)
Well you are just agreeing to get in my pants, but thanks
