ClanBase Announce EuroCup Season

ClanBase have today announced the inaugural fall EuroCup season. Once again Enemy Territory and Call of Duty 2 will feature amongst the EuroCup games.

Enemy Territory 6v6 will be played in EuroCup (Supervisor United Kingdom

Adacore, co-sup Belgium

NightRaver, with OpenCup seasons in 6v6 and 3v3. Whilst Call of Duty 2 S&D will be played at EuroCup (Supervisor United Kingdom

Cryptic co-sup Netherlands

Spox , with OC season's in S&D, CTF and TDM.

Sadly, unlike last season there will be no official ClanBase LAN finals or prize money available.

Therefore, after a long debate, ClanBase has decided to do things differently this season. Starting November 27, ClanBase will take the opportunity to get back into our familiar cup schedule. The side effect is that this season will be on a strict and shorter schedule than usual.

It also meant that we had to make some harsh decisions. There will be no EuroCup qualifier match week, no EuroCup LAN finals and no prize money for this shorter, intermediate season. As a side effect we've decided to leave out a few EuroCup games this season. These decisions were not taken lightly but necessary to guarantee a short but quality cup season and to get back on track starting next season.

EuroCup Finals take much preparation and often leaves a big gap between online and offline stages. We felt that the large majority of our user base would appreciate us taking necessary precautions to get back on schedule once and for all. On a positive note - our next season, Spring 2007, is announced immediately after this season and will again include finals and prize money.

As of 12:00 CET today signups will be open for the Fall 2006 season. Signups will close again on November 19. After which the first match week will follow shortly on November 27.

More information regarding both tournaments should be released shortly.

Thanks I know how to read. I just wanted to underline how just only 1 week ago there was people saying in some way "with 5o5 format we will have eurocup LAN final on ET". I dunno if they realize now that they were completly wrong.

I guess CB and ESL management might be concerned with which one is 'better', but I see absolutely no reason for CB and ESL to compete with each other - surely it's better to have two big name competitions than one?

how about the OC? i mean EC = 16 clans and OC div 1 got i guess 32 and the lower divisions even more.

No CS, WC3 EuroCups? ... ESL Extreme Masters with 160000 € prize money reached already a dimension Clanbase cannot compete with.

Sadly that there will be no prizemoney for ET. It gives Clanbase decision to switch back to 6on6 another sense (I know there where also other aspects :) )

and then CB would have made OC only and then the clans would have been whining that they aint got an EC.

and isnt playing EC with ur own clan more fun then playing NC with some other ppl from ur country...

It's nothing to do with "being good enough for the ET community" - it's general incompetence by the CB chiefs.

OC and EC are integral - they're effectively the same competition. Whether that's the right way of doing things or not, it's how CB works, we can't run one without the other (well - we could run OC and not have an EC I guess).

I don't get why the coordination lack.

Maybe... just maybe the admins and supervisors has become like some "top-players" has become (arrogant and having to high thoughts about themselves). I don't know how the supervisors and admins are now, cause I don't speak with them, that is why I wrote maybe.

I mean, back in the old days, we had such a great cooperation between rtcw.no, CB and ESL. Now it's almost like the proverb "dog eat dog".
