Sottevast Show Mini-League *UPDATED*

Last week, map maker Australia Dersaidin released his latest creation Sottevast_b1 to the world live on Luger Frag. Now with his improved internet access, Stewie will shoutcast a nights proper play testing this weekend.

This Saturday (December 9th), three teams have stepped forward to compete in a round-robin mini-league to showcase the new custom map Sottevast_b2. They are the inform sublime, EuroCup competing rewind and last weeks #1day-cup winners 'FAITH+1'.

Teams will play each other once over one round of Sottevast_b2. No decider will be played so matches can be drawn should it be a double full hold.

Please remember this is still a beta, and the purpose of these showmatches is to receive constructive feedback to help improve the map.

Description

An Axis V2 missile project has been advancing in a silo facility called Sottevast. Allied spies have discovered an attack is about to be launched from this secret silo, and a small team of elite soldiers were mobilized to prevent the launch.

Allies are attacking.


Allied objectives
- (Primary) Capture the Targeting System
- Enter the silo facility by dynamiting the main entrance or by using a disguise
- Take control of the Axis forward spawn
- Construct the command post to activate a forward spawn
- (Optional) Open the side door to gain additional access


Axis objectives
- (Primary) Defend the Targeting System
- Defend the silo facility's main entrance and prevent a covert entry
- Hold the forward spawn
- Stop the Allies from constructing a command post, or destroy it if it has been made
- (Optional) Keep the side door closed to hinder the Allied progress

- Cliff textures dont match the other rock along the edges of the river. An alpha blend will be added in later versions.

- Flag can no longer be reclaimed by axis once a door has been blown.
- Changed terrain near main door. Added two bunkers. Added ladder with team door.

only server i found to test this map was one in australia :p

it can be good map for competitions yes, but what is sure is that it will be G R E A T map for publics^^

i fear only one thing on this map. imo an allied attack from CP to obj can be easily spammed by axis, there are two short ways, which are cavered by 2 or 3 axis players in the same time, there is also one longer way but the problem is the same, all corridors are very narrow. and even allies breaks through, there is still a courtyard (around the rocket) which is also covered by axis from all sides around. if allies steal the obj, there is still qa long way inside the bunker, which can be easily camped. great map for defence, but very hard for attack. thats just my prediction, i will see how it goes in showmatches.

I would definatly make the flag reclaimable for axis, it'd add an extra / proper final stage.

Currently is practically pointless for the axis going to the truck as you add next to no time. They get back raged from every which way. The allies would still have the cp spawn for spawnkill / attacks plus the initial spawn.

I agree withm meez though, it'd need to be more difficult to reclaim the flag. Such as having to go through the allied attack.
I would say, capturing the flag for the first time is extremely hard. If some axis dies with 20 seconds left, the others can simpely go shoot the allies on long range. Taking them down takes that long that everyone can /kill and spawn again, and the allies get shot again.

Maybe make it a bit more radar style? move the flag forward, and make the entrance somewhere behind it, so the battle is more fought around the river and the strokes behind it.
The average time for securing the flag was 3-5 mins, that's not long.
