Perhaps you should note that 20% of the userbase is most interested in games other than ET. That could be translated into an increase in active users of around 25%. Bear in mind also that there're probably a lot more people who are interested in more than just ET, but for whom ET is merely the most important.
I've never understood this mentality of bashing other games than your own. Although I still want to see better implementation of the filter system.
Personally I'll watch a few ET games, despite not playing ET for over 2.5 years now! Bomb / defuse bores me (how the f*ck does COD4 have the player base it does?) and ET:QW is just a bad game for comp, both to play and to watch.
