Yes I know my first reply was useless
E: And I guess that even you have been inactive, you know there has been unjustified actions by some of the current admins. Bunch of shitholes. This site gets a new layout and a CUP-section!!! but theres fixes that needs to be done in the inner core. Oh and site is slower than before the update.
Make a poll about the approval rate of every single admin. (hi chosen)
Just ban them forever without any limit.
As well
- Delete warningpoints, no use anyway.
- I don't know if it is possible, but disallow pictures/youtube links in comments (so only the journal/forum/news poster can add them) will reduce spam imo.
on journals no way?
no fun, no use to browse it any more.
This isn't suposed to be a site that you visit to have a good laugh.
They should make a off-topic section then where you could post all your crap.
Most of the journals nowadays are just spam.
cuz
I think this site needs clear rules means sometimes u get points from a admin that another admin wouldn't give you
Most of the afore mentioned.
Cheaters: insta ban. You give admin powers to almost anybody who means something in the esports bussiness, wouldn't hurt to give special rights to the ET headadmins at ESL and CB so they can take care of the cheaters. That would be their only job though, don't need fucking killerboy to decide what is spam or not.
Spammers: ban.
Staff: go through it with a brush.
FIX MY PM REPLY FUNCTION AND UPDATE THE FUCKING SEARCH FUNCTION.
People need to understand you cannot permanently ban someone from a site like this (unless you want to close registration) - so you've a choice of either pursuing cat & mouse or looking to mitigate any damage. A great approach to doing this is stealing the Esreality style 'probation' - so if someone is banned from comp play they're highlighted on the site (say in their profile) and all posts have to be pre-approved by an admin before being published. This may seem like extra work for the admins but it's no more so than chasing down spam / fake accounts. This also works for people spamming and would be immeasurably better than the terrible points system. A similarly good system Esr uses for deleted posts is everything on the site goes in the admin log (including content - Crossfire currently just stores X deleted X journal - not what the journal content actually contained) so all the admins can review & _every_ post that's deleted needs to be justified by the admin in a thread in the admin forum. If the consensus (or Demi) disagree the content can be retrieved from limbo & republished.
If someone is banned from league competition by all means keep them from competing & stop them from playing on the xf / bio servers; but this is a lot easier to do if they remain to the one account - there could also be an argument that they might have an interesting insight on the discussion :O)
= How we deal with cheaters & How we deal with spammers
For example this is obvious spam: http://www.crossfire.nu/?x=forum&mode=item&id=35767
1) Thread is shit because OP didn't write anything useful, it's one of those threads were you could reply with "ok"
2) The chain is obviously spam, but at least it is quite funny and represents the unity of crossfire as a community
So there needs to be a clear line about what is spam and what isn't, and what's allowed and what isn't because at the moment it's too unclear, I know for sure that "x" admins would have given 20 warning points if I participated in that, others would ban for 1 day and other admins would do nothing.
No Spam = No Cf !
This is a poll where the admins want to know what we think should be improved, i gave my opinion. You are so happy about 4chan, my only response to that is, stay there.
and all the other forums in 4chan arent as known as /b/ itself unless u are an anime geek and u are on the anime board 24/7
many ppl refers to /b/ as 4chan. as he did
just save up your flame because u do know well that if he knew something about 4chan he wouldnt adress to it as spam only place.
i bet you cant even triforce
I can't even triforce.
but u are a retard because if ud know how to read ud see that i was letting the guy know that 4chan aint a spamming only place
Gives away that you're a /b/ newfag and haven't even looked at other boards. While we're at it, it also gives away that you, as a newfag, idealize 4chan as /b/ as well.
/b/ used to be about epic GETs, GREAT trolling and flame wars, now it's just endless copypasta and I don't want this over here as well. Get over it.
and the copy paste topics are 1 out of 10 topics.
i agree with unique that this is not just a "gaming community". what makes the et community so special is, that it is so 'small', ppl know each other, crossfire is the place where you can meet each other and where everything is concentrated.
we're all one big warm house :D
I personally like any journal with some sort of content, but there is like 20 journals a day that are about nothing.
some kind of sticky thingy for journals that are popular for a day or two. dunno if u get my point.
staff is pretty much alright, even though I think there could be more moderators during the day (racism, flaming, spam-shit that stays unnoticed).
I like the website design cause its simple and people are used to it. dont need no shiny bling bling.
for me, crossfire will always be about the wolfenstein theme... you can do whatever you want, it will always stay _the_ community site for anything ET related. change that, and it will die (bet there is already enough sites about other games out there). but I think its nice to read about other games in news aswell, I dont think they should be as big as ET on here.
cheater thing is good too, in case they're still banned right after the bust (?)
Useful / useless content is so incredibly subjective & so difficult to determine where the thread will take you - which is one of the wonders of Crossfire, the journal content is generally just a guide for what goes next - and that's the way it should be.
LESS racism.
LESS pointless journals.
MORE transparency.
CLEAR rules.
MORE racism.
MORE pointless journals.
MORE transparency.
Welcome to 4chan
That's about it! Make a group like the old et commitee.
Mainly because its the same few boring comments from the same few people and its getting boring :\
And as an admin you should provide us with information about the game with newspost/articles. If that's the reason why no news is being added, or rarely, because you don't get paid, stop being an admin then.

Does this qualify me to be an admin?
News writer and admin are two different things.
And perhaps show some respect for the people who do shit in here.
I was just surprised by your statement; "we don't get paid, so we don't have to write news"
I think i've never been disrespectfull towards admins so don't say so :p
At the moment it is nothing more than a bad 4chan clone (only you are not "anonymous") and in 99% not funny at all. I do still browse it more often than I wish I would, but certainly not for it's content. :p With spammers I do not only mean people posting the same shit in every journal or posting journals without content, but also people who tend to insult other users (there is a rule already about this, but I see barely an admin doing anything about it) including racism or sexism which is not funny at all most of the time.
Also I find it kinda odd that there are still some busted cheaters on the site, browsing and commenting happily.
The staff is alright so far, some exceptions tho. Mentioned above already, so, ye. Admins sticking to the rules would be awesome, also if the rules would be made more clear.
Uhm, ye, that should be it. ;p
Jumping through new posts with j/k
Additionally a rework of the notification messages for replies on your comments
a dark stretched theme
working resize of pictures when using the stretched theme
working resize of pictures in hide tags
With posts, do you mean comments?
HIRE ME
few members of the staff are sometimes ways to harsh towards certain members..
no names, the ones concerned know anyways.
also there are games that arent covered much, however still in the list..either post more about it or leave it to the major communities of the games imo.
furthermore the game reviews should firstly not link to another website, but be rather like articles or news about good new games imo and they are kind unluckily located, there's some space on the left, where you see it more easily/often..
the design is simple but good, there are some optional themes (wouldnt mind more, but its good already) and also few custom styles..
treatment of cheaters is ok, too..some dont get banned, but that is mostly those who never comment here anyways and for reading the page you can just logout, so np
Nah, I think theres being worked on :)
+ i would remove some admins. They are even worst than some users. Always acting as they want, giving warning points and deleting whatever they want, but sometimes they create same kind of shit troll topics... so... yeah..
Particularly:
* Cheating policy
* Spam policy
* Racism
* Flaming users with personal insults and pictures
If you think all this is too timeconsuming monitoring and moderating the website and not worth the effort
at least change the rules. So far it makes no sense to me having those rules without executing them properly.
Gimme the list, it'll be done.
I think that there could be some news post templates so new posters can see good ways of posting news etc - the amount of active members on crossfire the percentage content posters is small.
as a constructive critic
either teach staff(mostly kids who think they have power so they rule all they like....) a little bit of netiquete and how to properly moderate
or replace them with more mature people
teach them how they can take advantage out of the warning point system because it can be properly used to the good wealth community
teach them that no matter nationality people have it should not influence decisions to take
and if I had to say anything about the staff or discipline it would be that they should be a lot stricter on racism, even though I've seen this improving
- How we deal with spammers: warning points
- remove the nick change function: pretty annoying in not knowing 50% of the community cause of this function
- The Staff: being stricter in how they handle the racism
- more interviews and columns
e:
Limit the freedom to change your own nick is a good idea.
Youtube journals are fine with me but certain people don't do anything but posting random youtube vids and sometimes even multiple times a day. This would probably fall under the ''spam'' option but there is difference between wanting to share something and posting random stuff because you are bored.
- How we deal with this Spladderladder shit.
seems everyone forgot about this, yesterday everyone was still complaining about it.
Especially in forum section...some order is seriously needed. Delete all senseless bullshit and keep it clean and easy to check. Would also take care of constant repeating & spamming in for example journals(and other stuff also)
about the spammers, to be honest the spam is fun most of time, but should be some exceptions in serious threads, example: some guy asking about a game error, a config hmm about how slac funtion and a troll comes and says polaks..smth , so it gets just spam and no serious answer from commnunity, how to fix it , make a proper section where it isnt allowed to spam, troll, be tard, annoy ppl, etc, if u do u get ban, that way ppl know there is a section where they can actually ask for smth serious and wont get a stupid answer like : google, or gtfo polak..
my 2 cents.

Most likely causes:
* IIS received the request; however, an internal error occurred during the processing of the request. The root cause of this error depends on which module handles the request and what was happening in the worker process when this error occurred.
* IIS was not able to access the web.config file for the Web site or application. This can occur if the NTFS permissions are set incorrectly.
* IIS was not able to process configuration for the Web site or application.
* The authenticated user does not have permission to use this DLL.
* The request is mapped to a managed handler but the .NET Extensibility Feature is not installed.
Things you can try:
* Ensure that the NTFS permissions for the web.config file are correct and allow access to the Web server's machine account.
* Check the event logs to see if any additional information was logged.
* Verify the permissions for the DLL.
* Install the .NET Extensibility feature if the request is mapped to a managed handler.
* Create a tracing rule to track failed requests for this HTTP status code. For more information about creating a tracing rule for failed requests, click here.
Links and More Information This error means that there was a problem while processing the request. The request was received by the Web server, but during processing a fatal error occurred, causing the 500 error.

and remove that admin who is supporting that retard crew
This community is still pretty "alive" because of the whole spam ;)
Remember the period of time where the spam was strongly forbidded and controled and the journal list stayed almost constant. This was the time, where many were leaving the "boring" site.
And why do u wanna get it disappeared? Just ignore those "useless" journals or comments.
1. My suggestion: change the site design, and add some new options, which some of the users maybe would like to see (like me :))
2. Forbid to use words like "retard", "fuck" and so on and give warning points to those who use them (this definately would be a strict line between useless and useful :))
3. write more interesting stuff about the gaming overall
4....
"just ignore useless journals/comments" rofl, go to 4chan ;)
4chan aint spam, theres cool stories over there, sometimes theres post your cock thread but thats about it.
ATM it doenst disturb me at all, u just have to filter out things by reading, which u dont wanna see there.
A live gamestv feed and clanbase/ESL updates would make the site more alive though.
fuck all japanese shit quake wars or whatever
more QL & ET (same engine same approval) and gtfo with cod stuff here its not multishit like cadred or whatever, in few months i actually expect here 1.6/CSS news 24/7
- dealing with cheaters: no (ex-)cheater should be on here
- dealing with spammers: spammers should be banned faster
Gamestv.org feed - imo it's never noticed - maybe add some flags and put there only 2-3stars matches incoming cause this section is too small for all of them.
This would be in a new section call Popular comments (exactly like the one for news/journals etc).
"Resulting from or pertaining to personal mindsets or experience, arising from perceptive mental conditions within the brain and not necessarily from external stimuli"
From "personal" experience on CF (if you can even call that personal but w/e), I think Baggiez is a retard...but do you agree? most likely not, cause you know him better than just from CF...
so its all a matter of perception and experience :) you cant say who is and is not a retard..
the regular longer term crossfire users will vote for "how we deal with spammers"
and the spammers will vote for "staff" because they get banned every single time for their spam and flame
However, ofcourse there will be exceptions..
Having him managing the aef / other belgian lan is great (even if he did some admin mistakes), but his adminning of CF simply doesn't work.
Also fix up the pm and comment spam of "you cannot post/send a comment that fast" or something and "you need at least 10 characters". They are quite annoying
TIME FOR SOMETHING NEW... IT'S OLDER THAN FUCKING FACEBOOK.
You should give moderator status to people who actually can moderate(being able/available).
Oh and there are a few admins who shouldn't have that status, we don't know what they did to get this status but things like organising events or being admin's friend are definetely not an argument to be given admin privileges.
Moderator: People who actually show a certain level of common sense, moderate the same manner and read the site everyday.
Admin: People who contribute to improve the site content, either coding or posting news/columns, and most importantly not getting involved in any flame war/kid rage since he obviously would end it by using admin rights.
Now you can figure who does and who doesnt fill these requeriments on CF staff.
need more quakelive, need more Brink!
