I was very optimistic about how things might end up in ET community but now I'm not really sure anymore.

Chapter 1 - Publics

Enemy Territory is dying a little by little as players get either bored of the game or by the cheaters plaguing it. New players are somewhat hard to get, nearly every one of you started this game by playing public, some of you mightve been dragged into our lovely community by a friend and you had the opportunity to start clan matches early on, but even so, you wouldn't play a game you don't enjoy? this brings me back to my point, cheaters. Not many times you see a public without a cheater or two. Quite often its the case of very obvious cheater aswell, spraying headshots everywhere, whether its sten or thompson. Public cheaters are not only ruining the fun of more experienced players who've played this game quite a bit, but think about all those new to the game? what would be their first impression? Surely they might not even notice if the player is legit or not, but he can ruin your fun nevertheless. No fun, No play?

Chapter 2 - Clanbase

Moving on to discuss about Clanbase, I saw them taking action by actually banning based on demo, I thought this move was great, all that was required for it to work would have been some professional players with the motivation and skill to get the cheaters banned. So we had/have killerboy, quite a hotspur with great deal of motivation, but what he lacks is the experience. Everyone has seen tons of videos posted by him about cheaters, and if you havent, its just because you stopped watching them after the first one or two. Now don't get me wrong, he does a great job whenever he is dealing with evidence that is nearly 100% certainty, I'm talking about stuff that punkbuster has been able to detect, 360-degrees aimbot stuff and so on. But what comes to demo based busting, he is just not the right guy for the job. I believe he has noticed that himself aswell, taking in consideration the latest news from clanbase, which states that [Urlnew=http://www.crossfire.nu/?x=news&mode=item&id=3297]Banning in demo cases are only done if the player in question is obviously cheating[/url].
This was rather shocking... or if not shocking, dissapointing atleast. We've seen blatant cheaters being banned from the clanbase, such as Austria keNta, Hungary seNti, Poland Gnajda, Sweden slajdan and so on. Something was finally being done in order to give these cheaters what they deserve. Clanbase's decision to not ban for (obvious enough) demos was rewind of a chapter. Sweden slajdan was a fine example of a blatant cheater, but as he was banned based on a demo with not sufficient proof, Clanbase decided to unban him. So lets say if I were to submit a ban request of slajdan with the does someone still have this one saved somewhere? It was some 3on3 match afaik? showing him blatantly cheating, would he be rebanned and join the banlist among the other blatant cheaters considering the case of gnajda or kenta for example. neither of them were busted till later on by punkbuster after they had received their cheater mark and bans from clanbase & crossfire. lets pretend gnajda didnt cheat till he was banned from clanbase, if this was the case, shouldnt he be unbanned as slajdan is also getting unbanned?

Chapter 3 - ET-Ace

This pretty much got us back to where we were at, a small community relying only on punkbuster which even public hacks can bypass. One can only hope Croatia chaplja and Romania quad are to bring forward their huge project, which is assumed to be the resurrection that ET will be needing. ET-Ace is what we all (non-cheaters) have been eagerly waiting for. As United States of America Bani didn't formulate a proper license, he allowed ET-Ace to use ETPro as they wish, which means we will be getting completely new mod which includes the gameplay and functions equivalent to etpro, a new AntiCheat integrated, possible integrations with for example crossfire and yawn, updating of the mod to make it more fit for competition, unlocking the cvars (ambientscale) and eventually some other simple changes.
The AntiCheat part of the mod could fully replace punkbuster, but can also go side by side with it which atleast still seems to give us quality authentication that no one hasnt been able to hack.
An automatic updating system isnt out of reach either, it would update the mod along with the anticheat by itself, no more manual updating.

So all-in-all ET-Ace looks very promising for ET, but is it really too late? is the game already beyond redeemable or would ET-Ace change everything?

I hope I brought up some valid points that should be discussed, its a long read and im sure it has some awesome mistakes, but putting those aside, I hope you enjoyed reading it.
