Recent movies like Day after Tommorow, 2012, or I am Legend are full of special effects, but all failed to really suck me in. Also liked the postprocessing: No warmth, no sun, no saturated colours, just the muddy rotten gray of a dying planet buried under clouds of ash. I can totally understand what you mean when you say this movie touched you!

I would say, The Road is for sure. Nothing else crosses my mind but I'm sure there are a lot more. I also really liked Scary Movie, all of them except for the second, but too many might disagree...

I actually think 'Watchmen' is bit underrated tho. Never got the attention it should've got. It got 'bad' ratings at the overal movie list of 2009 in some NL newspaper.

Comics are still better, but i still think its an underrated (recent) movie
