To all the PC pros out there!

I need a new desktop computer but i dont know what to buy.
I was checking Alienware but im not willing to pay 400+ € just for name+design.

So I'm asking here:
Who can advice me a site where I can buy (gaming) desktops?

I'm willing to spend 2000€ (max!)
Oh and, most important, I want two harddrives RAID 0 in it.

I used to run RAID0, the raid for REAL MEN!
Parent
the raid for people who don't care about the data in said raid
Parent
Exactly!

Only wimps use tape backup: real men just upload their important stuff on ftp, and let the rest of the world mirror it ;)
Parent
raid0 is not a real backup, it just use 2 hdd's at the same time to read the stuff faster
Parent
I know, that's why it is the RAID(or rather AID, since no disk is redundant) of REAL MEN!

Backups are for pussies you know.
Parent
intel core i5 750
some nice gigabyte mainboard
some ddr3 ram
ati hd5850 or 5870 gfx card
some random hdds
some random case with fans
bequiet 600w psu

nur paar anhaltspunkte :D
Why the i5? For the sort of money he's suggesting he could go for an i7.
Parent
overclock the i5 and voila you have almost an i7
Parent
Still doesnt perform as good as an i7 on multi-threaded programs
Parent
But the LGA1156 socket is gonna be obsolete soon - if you get a decent LGA1366 mobo you'll be able to upgrade it a bit for a few years if you want.
Parent
goood suggestions
Parent
look @ the specs of the alienware

buy the parts separately
Build it yourself save some money, I buy my shit here http://overclockers.co.uk/productlist.php?groupid=43 thats also a link to the prebuilt systems in case you don't wanna build it youself.

for 2 k you can go beyond top of the range! If you email overclockers you can tell them what you want and they'll build it for you

also what do you need the raid setup for?
CPU: Intel Core i3 530 2.93GHz Clarkdale overclocked to 4.00GHz

sounds good :D
Parent
can do that with my e8400 too, np. also 4.2ghz possible :>
Parent
ocuk had terrible customer service when i've used them in the past

tho checking now they do seem to have gotten cheaper :o
Parent
I've never had any problems with them, they normally reply to a webnote within a few hours which is pretty good, I prefer them to nova for sure.
Parent
yea its very good system but bare in mind you are paying for the overclock to 4.0ghz too, which you could do yourself very easily,

and I would get a small SSD for windows also, you can add it at the top.
Parent
Whatever you do, buy an SSD harddrive, for system operation and your programs.
Raid wtf? are you kidding me.
+ FUCKING 1
was going to write the same.
BUT y do you write SSD harddrive? Solid state drive harddrive? doesn't make any sense, does it?

wenn du nicht videoschitt betreibst und unbedingt speicherkapazitäten im terabyte bereich brauchst, hol dir ne SSD.
Parent
He wouldnt understand what SSD is i assumed.
Parent
i know what SSD is, i just dont need it.
It costs a lot of money (if you want 1gig) and I need a lot of space on my drive
Parent
It's not for storage, but one for your system will boost alot, and since you are willing to spend 2000euro on a computer why the hell would you not get one? and how retarded are you ? why the hell will you only have one harddrive?
Parent
hmmn,
I would rather buy 2 GPUs in my system than spending it on a SSD
Maybe I'll get one but only if its in a bundle where the other specs are okay
Parent
Well since you dont understand anything i wont bother to reply anymore.
Parent
keine ahnung, ich seh hier grad ne 80 gb version für 160€. würde für mich vollkommen ausreichen.
Parent
He's right, all you need to use it for is essential programs and your windows installation, you install all games on your second 1TB drive, The one thing my pc is lacking is a SSD.

Parent
i7 975 imo
Phenom II X6 1090T Black Edition
Parent
hahaha! Are you serious?
Parent
I should hope not, for that shitheap, paying 100's more because its watercooled.
Parent
or:
Core i7 - Socket1156
16GB DDR3
Radeon HD59xx
2 Intel X-25 Postvile 250GB in Raid0 or 3 Intel X-25 Postvile 160GB in Raid5
Lian Li Case
+Bluray Burner +2TB HD for data
ALTER VERPISS DICH.

UND NIMM DEINE YUPPIE_HARDWARE GLEICH WIEDER MIT.

GUCKS DIR HALT NOMMA AN
Parent
der iMac - ziemlich genau 2000ocken (aber dann "nur" mit 8gig ram - 16kosten 1000euro :D) und der PC, mit den SSDs, locker über 2000euro ohne wahrscheinlich knapp drunter.
Parent
totally overpriced
Parent
Quotetotally overpriced

iMac i7 - 16GB - 2TB
GG
Parent
oh wait - i will search for a 27inch monitor with 2560x1440px resolution
Parent
indeed, it is overpriced, the other pc i posted is better and cheaper, I have a feeling you are picking pc's out by price, don't do that unless you wanna get ripped off.

Compare the components
Parent
my problem is, that i dont know shit about computers (hardware).
I saw some Nvidia GPUs with 1.8gb and now some ppl tell me that ATI/other Nvidias with less (like 1 gig) are better

Ofc i dont go just by the price but I want a decent setup where i dont need to do anything on my own, just turn it on, install my programms and play
Parent
yea it doesnt really go buy the megabyte size of graphics cards or the price anymore, the new nvidia cards are not much better than the ATi 5000 series cards but yet the nvidia cards are MUCH more expensive so its just not worth it to buy one,

All you have to is google for reviews of each card or motherboard or whatever then compare the two,

Your best bet for a graphics card would be the 5870!
Parent
i wouldnt pay that much for a pc :P
you should better get some decent internet!
Parent
have a look at the acer predator series !

very good pcs ..imo.. i have tested some ..
