Experts unite

Today I studied all day and I realised reading on an LCD monitor with 60hertz is just dumb.

So I tryed lowering my resolution to get a higher refresh rate but my god damn monitor only agrees with one resolution and any other resolution except that specific one is too fucking blury! (even if its the same ratio as the original resolution)

Any ideas?

lcd monitor's refresh rate is fixed to 60hz, so you are plain stupid
well... no!
In fact my other LCD monitor has 75hz and this one i can go to 75 aswell but the vision is horrible because of the resolution.
btw I called experts not random nerds.

refresh rate is fixed and every resolution that deviates from the display's native resolution needs to be interpolated = stuff will get blurry. for reading you want sharp text, so leave it at its native resolution.

a refresh rate of 60Hz is no problem, ESPECIALLY for still images (text!), because only pixels that actually change will get refreshed.

reading on a CRT with 60Hz is dumb, on an LCD it's no problem. make sure the brightness is not set too high (80-140 cd/m² are enough, except you're in a really bright room), though and stop once in a while to relax your eyes. also looking at a monitor in a totally dark room is bad for your eyes, so make sure there's some ambient light.
lcd's are homo if not on highest resolution
LCDs have a native resolution, and that's the only resolution anything is going to look fine in. Lowering it won't help your refresh rate, due to the fact that CRTs and LCDs work in completely different ways.

The LCD won't flicker at 60hz anyways.
