watched this film (in bruges) last night, one of the funniest films ive ever seen. can somebody link me to a stream for it please, would love to watch it again.

looks to me you don't have a decent answer. anyways why the criticism about the bruges? are you jealous cause it wasn't "in antwerp" (since you prollly live there)? the city is quite nice, historical but also good enough for parties etc.. (for example: bruges has a big drum n bass scene). anyways i visited antwerp aswell and its nice too.. though alot of ppl who live there, often say its the best city of belgium

Kinda hard to give a decent answer when there's so much to describe and when I don't know what kind of person you are. I could tell you about all the cultural stuff there is to do/visit but if you only care for party and alcohol that won't interest you much, same if I tell you about all kinds of places to go and party while you only wanna watch paintings or shit. To combine it would be too much typing.

Would be cool to have an "In Antwerp", but I'm not jealous about it.

Anyways, Bruges is retarded and a village (not a city) => Ken, I grew up in Dublin. I love Dublin. If I grew up on a farm, and was retarded, Bruges might impress me but I didn't, so it doesn't.

Gent is the safest city of Belgium, that's official, and it has the Gentse Feesten, AA Gent, International filmfestival, Jazz festival, the Vooruit, Culture Club, I love Techno, and just a perfect atmosphere.

Antwerp on the other hand also has festivals, but less than Gent, and obviously is a lot more dangerous, has a lot more Turks who fuck up the neighbourhood, and is a lot less enjoyable. It's the most racist city in Belgium, which directly equals a lot more "marginalen", plebs that is.

Turks are in Limburg, Antwerp has Eastern Europeans and Maroccans.

I'm assuming your claim "Gent is the safest city" is based on this? Kinda silly to give yourself the title of "safest city" solely on the fact there's less armed robberies on commercial places. It says nothing about murders, robberies on people, vandalism, etc.
Despite that, I do believe Ghent is safer than Antwerp. Doubt there's an area in Flanders less safe than our glorious pearl.

Antwerp has a fantastic legend as to how it came to it's name, what about Ghent?
We have the Antwerp Zoo, Central Station (most beautiful station in Western Europe!). We have Rubens, Conscience and Willem Elsschot!

We're the only Flemish city with a metro. We have Beerschot and Antwerp, fiercest football rivalry in Belgium. We have fuckin jews!

We have the Meir (biggest shoppingstreet in Flanders), 't Schipperskwartier and diamonds! We have one of the largest ports in the world.

We have Summer of Antwerp, Petrol, Noxx, Café d'Anvers. We have Sensation White & Black. We have Clouseau every year! We have Night of the Proms.

And Antwerpians (dunno "Antwerpenaren" in english xD) are not racist, they're chauvinistic. The reason VB scores so much is because we feel we're losing the city to Russians, Albanians, Maroccans etc. and we don't want to let that happen.

Conclusion: Antwerp > Ghent.

I work in Brussels every day, and I simply hate that city. It's too crowded, too much of a world-city. You say you've got a metro, but is that really something to be proud of? In my eyes a city that needs a metro has become way too big. It's not enjoyable anymore. And your ethnic diversity isn't something good imo. It alienates the common Fleming from its city.

Not true!

Ghent is by far the coolest city in Belgium, followed by Antwerp, but Bruges is pretty decent aswell.
Nice historical centre, cool shopping area, and it has way less foreigners.
