My PC died today, some smoke and the blue screen of death and adios, so I'm planning on buying a new one.
I'm obviously gonna buy my PC in Belgium so most likely the Belgian people here can help me out the most.
I'm wondering whether or not Vista is an option ( is there anything else avi atm anyway?) seeing I play ET and not some newer game.
I'm also wondering whether or not I should assemble the PC myself or just buy one "out of the box".
My budget is around 2000 EURO's and I'd like the best PC available for that price, I'm currently abusing google by giving in 200 searches a minute but if anone gould give me advice then that would be greatly appreciated:-)
tnx!
Edit : Yes i'm buying a new one before the summer since without a pc I can't do anything ( msn, facebook, gaming, school, work ). And I'm spending so much money because I want something which I can leave alone for some years without having to update it, and because my parents dont see a problem with it.
Edit2: The 2000 EURO budget is my max, if possible I obviously don't want to spend that much, stop whining.

imo spend 1000 of it and get a pc that will be decent for 2-3 years, then spend the rest and get another for for 2-3 years again because even if u get the BEST PC of today it will be shit in 4-6 years anyways.

With a 1000 euros, you can easily make a perfect gaming system with an i7 etc etc.
build your own dream pc, leave out the OS and download/ burn Windows XP /Windows 7 and dualboot it. none of that vista shit
no offence
Motherboard: Asus p7p55d (135 euros)
Processor: intel i7 860 (240 euros)
Ram: corshair XMS3 DHX 4 gb (125 euros)
Hard disk (system) : x-25 m 80 gb (210 euros)
Hard disk (data) : WD caviar black 1 tb (90 euro)
Graphic card : Radeon HD 5850
Total : ~1100 euros (spend the money left on a good 120 hz monitor (max 400 euros), the box, the powersupply etc)
http://tweakers.net/gallery/108168?wish_id=69694#tab:wenslijst around 1500 High performance, room for overclocking, good cooling, one of the best power supply's avi that is very efficient. Good case with enough airflow. It can be less expensive if you take HD5850 if you take i750 with good motherboard, if you take less effiecient psu. But you want to spend 2000. It's not really needed these days. Its also a good idea to buy a pc around 1000 euro and 2 years later again a pc for 1000 euro, you will get more performance in the long run than. That's what i would do.
If you want to get to 2000, take bigger SSD 160GB take another HD5870 if you play above HD resolution. Or take a more expensive case, because thats personal. The best thing you can do if you cant built the pc yourself let webshop assemble it for you.
Go with this system!
very useful, will probably follow most of your advice
basicly followed everything you said except that I'm probably going to buy another HD, gonna go for something with raid 0 on it as my cousin ( who studied informatica and currently controls the PC maintenace of an entire hospital) suggested it
tnx alot;)
The F3 i suggested is the fastest 7200rpm disk avail. I am hardware guru ;)
Also you should be aware, if one disk will fail in RAID 0. You loose all your data. So dont put any important data on RAID 0 array.
But your welcome, have fun with it.
On my ( read = your ) pc atm, it's incredibly fast! tnx <3
