Should I still buy the Corsair ones then ?

sorry, don't know much about AMD socket motherboards and too busy to really research it right now

but atleast get a regular atx board, microatx = nerfed
Parent
Wow, that is quite the setup you have there :-)

he has 4 gb of ram
Parent
why is it better? (I'm interested, no flame involved, I even have it on my laptop)
Parent
32bit doesn't support more then 2GB of RAM memory
Parent
aha :) ty
Parent
correct him then, I'm intersted
Parent
3.2 If I'm correct, adding 4 GB of RAM would get you 3.2?
Parent
nope, XP can only handle 3.2 gb of memory overall. this also include graphic memory on your gfx :)

Litte example:

If you got 4 GB onboard Ram and a gfx with 1gb ram you can only use 2.2 Ram of your onboard memory
Parent
more than 3 u nooooob
Parent
32bit = only 2^32 (=4 294 967 296) memory addresses can be registered, which is ~4GB of address space

ram isn't the only thing that takes up address space, bios roms & video cards also take up addresses and these have to be allocated before RAM

for example if you have a 512mb graphics card you should have somewhere around 3.4GB of RAM addressed/usable

personally i don't mind losing .6GB of ram for the convenience of running 32bit apps natively, but as more and more applications begin to run natively in 64bit it will probably be worth switching
Parent
wtf? do you go to buy a OS? :DDDDDDDDDDDDDDDDDDDDDDDDDD
Actually, I won't, I'll get it from my dad's work. It's just to see what the budget would be like.

(VGA1) NVIDIA GeForce 6600 GT (128MB), 1680x1050x32, 60Hz (OS) Microsoft Windows XP Professional (SP3) , 1h 38m 41s uptime, 16h 29m 42s uptime record

when did you buy that, 2005ish? :D
Parent

Parent

for a start ebuyer prices are better

i dont know why you are buying win7 and getting a phenom you might as well find windows somewhere else(!) and spend the extra money on getting an i5 ;X
i7 <3 :p i've had it tbh with amd cpu's myself cuz they are way behind on intel these days
Parent
i'd like to get an i7 but it's a bit overkill at the moment : D
and by the time you get a game thatll use it fully you'll probably need a new gpu again anyway \o/
Parent
can buy a new gpu later then ;p
Parent
are those phenoms running better since the first series? i have a first gen of it and it's craptastic to play et on... for all else it's pretty decent except dragon age which is totally fucked up beyond belief with long loading and starting to hang when many npc's appear..though with mass effect 2 i never had any problems
