Canadia is the proper spelling for a country where the people call themselves "Canadians". If the country's name was spelled "Canada," then the people there would call themselves "Canadans." Since they call themselves "Canadians", it's only reasonable to spell the name of their country "Canadia." After all, people from Germany don't call themselves "Germanians" do they?
ps: israel spelled naziland AHAHAHAHAHAH XDXDSDSDSDXDXD:PPPPPPP

During the time of the Roman empire, the name of certain area's or countries on a map were often given a name with a latin twist. Part of Europe for instance was called Germania.
During the colonization of Canada (which was divided over several decades/ages) there were times at which the renaissance was at it's peak. This is hard to say however, because the renaissance doesn't really have a steady timeline in which it took place.
But seeing the fact that the renaissance was all about going back to the time of the Romans/Greeks, it could also be that the founders of the country, or in this case, possibly the conquerors or Canada, were interested in the renaissance and decided to give the inhabitants of Canada the titel 'Canadians', since that's based on classical stuff, which was a trend in the renaissance.
Just a theory.
In some way that still doesn't answer your question, but it could be how they got their name :p
