video replay in FIFA?

I was reading an article about why FIFA doesn't want video replay implemented in its tournaments and I gather that their main reason is that it "slows down the fluidity of football".

I'm wondering, when I watch the game on TV, about 5 seconds after a play has happened, be it an offside call or a rough challenge on a player, they pop up a replay. To me that doesn't seem like such a long pause as to upset the flow of the game. I mean it takes about 10 seconds for them to play a slowed down version or to put up that box/line that shows where the players are on/offside and then its almost always obvious what the correct call is.

Basically, I don't understand why in the biggest sporting tournament in the world, they actually endorse terrible officiating by not having the 4th official watching a video replay of at least the key calls such as offsides, disallowed goals and red cards.

Here's hoping england doesn't suffer same fate as USA :<

Whats your point?
why dont they use video replay to stop bad calls?
ie. usa should have 4 points, not 2.

football is better without the technology, sometimes you win, sometimes you lose with randoms mistakes.. thats the fun part sometimes.

i wouldnt like to see the game stopped for 5 minutes just to see if it was a fault for penalty till they make the right decision, not even for a red card expulsion.
its like it is..

if i was in favor i would comment in the mistake from the ref at the final of italy 90, that gave that penalty kick to germany against argentina, and to be honest ref can make mistakes..

4th ref can act like happened in the 2006 wc final.. with zidane's rage.. :P

let it be!!!!!
When a player is red carded, they take time to walk off the field. When a goal is scored, celebrations happen, players run around and scream etc. When a play is offside, it takes time for players to get back. Usually for any controversial call, there is some argument between players and ref. All of these things take time, time that if used efficiently could see the fourth official review the replay and determine if a call was correct, all while not disrupting the game!

wtf this aint rugby nor hockey nor basketball!!!
this is sparta, no wait..

football is ok as its imo, you want to stop the celebration after someone check if it was a goal or not, ok, gooood luck having a great atmosphere in the stadium, football fans are way more emotional than in any other sports, prepare to get killed in the stadium! hf and as i said early, shits happens during the game.

skilled opponent, oh loz, football is not predictable, ask Spain ask any other nation team that was way more better than the opponent, yet they lost..
Argentina lost against Cameroon in 1990 in the first match, after been WC Champion in 86, we made it to the finals, but about skilled opponent.
either you have a good team with good tactics or you can have luck by scoring and making a bad game and still winning.

even if my team loses, id rather know they were beaten by the opponents skill than by the ref making a terrible decision

but then it isn't football anymore
so people consider bad officiating as part of the sport?

i think this "faults" make sports even more interesting and you will talk about it like: OMFG, that wasn't a goal LE FU ref etc.

football needs those errors.. but that's my opinion

thats how football's fan thinks!
well at least I do.

I agree but only reviewing goals not fouls.
