Ok well recently i've been trying to find a cable so that i can play my PS3 on my Computer monitor...
I have a really crappy Yuraku 22" TFT monitor, which only has a VGA socket in the back... Sooo i bought this ( http://cgi.ebay.co.uk/GOLD-1-5M-HDMI-MALE-SVGA-VGA-M-CONVERTER-A-V-CABLE-/270549100366?cmd=ViewItem&pt=UK_Computing_CablesConnectors_RL&hash=item3efdfba74e ) HDMI to VGA cable so the HDMI bit would fit in my ps3 and VGA bit into my mon itor in the hopes that it would work, everythings fits but my monitor is just blank..
Can anyone recommend me anything like the correct cable? Or if i have the right cable what i should be doing with it?
Thanks

other solution (that worked for my xbox) - connect it to a device that is working with it, go to the menu and set it to a fitting resolution, disconnect but dont shut down, connect it to the new device and then hope it'll work.
other than that, is the HDMI-to-VGA Adapter converting the digital signal to a analog signal? because if it doesn't it won't work at all.
E: just googled - it won't work since your monitor doesn't support HDCP (copy-protection) and you can't convert an encrypted digital signal to an analog signal.
thats my monitor, still no idea if it supports 720/1080p
and http://cgi.ebay.co.uk/GOLD-1-5M-HDMI-MALE-SVGA-VGA-M-CONVERTER-A-V-CABLE-/270549100366?cmd=ViewItem&pt=UK_Computing_CablesConnectors_RL&hash=item3efdfba74e that cable just says "Description:
This HDMI to VGA HD15 (Male) connects your HDMI enabled devices, HDTV (not from your PC or Laptop) to your monitor. HDMI enabled devices include, Playstation systems, HDTV receiver, Projector, A/V Receiver, DVD player, etc to your monitor
Supports Resolution up to 1080p"
doesnt say anything about converting to analogue :/
PS3 -> HDMI-to-DVI -> HDFury -> VGA/VGA -> Monitor
but your monitor has to support 720p or 1080i, but since it's max resolution is 1680 x 1050 pixels you can play in 720p mode.
But i'm still no closer to knowing if my monitor supports 1080p :/
but before blindly buying the HDFury adapter google it for yourself since I got these information from 3 posts in a german forum.
dunno whaat the prob could be :<
Well, I'm usually wrong.
