My poor poor PSU has died :(
Last night I noticed that my computer started smelling like burned HW. When I turned it on this morning, it started going *BzZZZZzzzzZ* *FZzzZZzzZZ* etc. so I decided to turn it off again. This was when hell broke loose, as smoke started to rise from the back of the PSU, so now I am on my laptop. The worst thing, is that it's friday, which means that if I order a new PSU today, I wont be getting it before monday, unless I pay a huge amount of money to have it delivered tomorrow.
Any experts out there? I have been thinking of turning on the computer again, but I would think that it is probably not advisable to turn a PSU, which has providing a nice smoke cover for my livingroom!

Well, it's a heck of a lot cheaper buying HW online than in a store, at least here in Denmark it is. There is no way I am going to pay double the price, just to get it today :)
Eg. my PSU died as well after 3 years and I got a new one in a couple of days free of charge.
they should have a measurement device
And i wouldnt turn it on again, just hope that the PSU didnt take take any hardware. Last time i had PSU blowing up, my motherboard was also gone.
I sure hope that nothing has been affected by the "blow-up", since it came after I had turned the computer off. It smelled like burned HW all night, last night and the puter worked fine this morning.
Make sure you buy something like corsair/seasonic/cooler master/scythe/be quiet!/enermax/ocz/zalman/thermaltake. Burning plastic is the outside of capacitor. Be happy it didnt blow up badly, its like fireworks. Also if i see your computer specs, more than 500W is not neccesary. 650W is overkill.
it was working fine for another 2 weeks, then it finally died.
but it was a 250W PSU :D
