Two annoying Internet problems

1) Whenever I download, everything goes fine, I have the max speed on my internet. That slows my internet and gives me a 300 ping in ET. It's fine. But the problem is, even if I close the downloads, I will still have 300 ping and the internet will still be a bit slow. The only solution is me going to the other room and disconnecting the router, 10 seconds and then back, which solves the problem until the next download. Why does it happen? Any ways to make it even faster than what I descriped? Or even a solution?

2)All the time, I have a 300-400 ping jump for 4 seconds, every 5-10 minutes...

I read about those ping spikes with vista or amybe win7, can't remember... just google a while or else call your ISP cuz that's the next logical thing to do..... I'd actually call them right away cuz if they aren't that stupid tehy should know some solutions, even if it is OS based..

i did, and they only thing they did is wasting my time with reading instructions next to them while they have no idea what the fuck to do

turn your limitation settings in way that it uses most of net "power" with ET and the rest shit it allows for dl's etc, just remember turn it off when u dl or it takes 10 years

i kinda have the same problem with torrents, i need to wait a few mins after closing utorrent till my internet is fixed, i have no clue why my friend.

torrents are my primaries, but it also happens if i download with firefox, like rapidshare and so on

with torrents, it leaves a lot of connections open even after you have finished downloading or have closed your download problem, only solution is a reboot.

I use rapidshare all the time and have never had the problem with it, I did have it with torrents though.

Something like that.. I guess the ISP has a huge-ass incoming queue, which is filled to the brim when torrenting, and it stays that way for a while even after stopping the torrent app.. Killing the router makes the ISP notice the link is down, which kills the queue, and he can start again with an empty queue, and thus lower ping.

However, this is all guesswork.

I had problem 2 with my ISP aswell. Nothing I could do about it as it was ISP-related.

Have you tried playing while connected directly to the cable (remove any router/switvch/hub)?
