good idea but then they would need to also put ET Pro or something into the package, cause 1 thing that sux about ET is downloading all those mods every time connecting to a different server :/

True, containing the popular mods would be a good idea, but I imagine it's impossible due to copyright reasons. It's not that big deal nowadays though, when we live in a world of fast connections.

every Steam game seems to have a lot of "chops"/"lags" for some reason, dunno if its VAC, but in MW2, L4D etc i feel very choppy.

Well, of course people could just use the normal client then? I meant a system like there is with many games, for instance with Battlefield: Bad Company 2 - there's a non-steam retail version and a Steam version, both of which are basically the same and can be played on the same servers but the other just needs Steam running - and the Steam version doesn't have VAC btw.

So of course there should not be VAC in it, and of course the normal version should still be playable.

this was on 2gb RAM, ~okay nvidia card, alright processor, ran ET fine @ 76 fps - you shouldnt have to have an uber PC to be able to use steam

i have 4gb ram now, ati card, stable 125 in ET - should i try now?!

Like, mouse lags? or just general game lags, cus i found turning that vertical sync thing off works rly well..

as you said, this game is more than 7 years old, so its pretty hard to get lots of new players, especially when the game is not updated (PB e.g., ofc PB it just a big joke but still), graphics are pretty old and the scene is full of cheaters and 16 years old whiners. Maybe worth a try, maybe not.
