English + 4 core subjects (usually math/physics/chem/bio) are all we need to get into uni :D

At 14-16 you typically study ~11 subjects at GCSE level, English/Maths/some kind of science are generally forced I believe and then you can normally select the rest yourself, stuff like humanities, sports, arts etc. At 16-18 you would narrow down and study 3-4 subjects but in a bit more depth, often these are at around first year university level or at the least preparing you for it. Then you have university where you obviously focus on one field/subject.

After class 11 (which i've finnished now) we can choose which kind of sience we want to do (ofc I've chosen physics).
We can also drop some other subjects and pick up some new ones. Also we can choose which subjects we want to take our exams in (usualy 4 written exams and one oral exam)

depending on the school you go to and the facilities they have you can do slightly different courses, Design and Technology for my school was split up into four different qualifications: Cooking, Graphic Design, Textiles and Resilient Materials (basically Wood/Metal work). and you did one of these for your GCSE.

we study that in the army, once we are done with high school we have between 2 months to a year until everyone is recruited to the army and is placed in the division/battalion/whatever he choosed / choosed for him
