hexacore fun

I have some new toys.

Asus M4A89GTD PRO/USB3
AMD Phenom II X6 1055T 2,8GHz
Corsair Dominator CMP4GX3M2C1600C7
Goal is to reach 4~4,2GHz hopefully 3000NB, and 7-7-7 or lower memory timings.
need to mount my watercooling with 2x240mm radiators and Swiftech MCP355 pump + XSPC res top, i will use EK Supreme LT waterblock.

This is still with stock cooling.
As you can see i allready clocked my HTT from 200 to 300. And clocked the NB from 2000 to 2700. And smalll overclock of 500MHz on the cores. Since the mutiplier is 14, 14x300 = 4,2Ghz that will the maximum, unless i am able to get higher HTT but i didnt try that yet.

Anyone else here into overclocking stuff?

I am not that extreme tbh, i guess you didnt see people playing with dry ice and LN2 yet. I am just trying to find max for 24/7

what are you doing with the old pc? with the ddr2 sticks in particular? :d

Not OC-ing anymore myself, also turning the pc off whenever I go away, to reduce the power bills :p

I allready sold the sticks.
I also turn my pc off when i am gone or sleeping. Just want to find 24/7 stable overclock, but i dont want to run it 24/7.

I will get a low power server machine in few months also, i am getting 100/100 fiber here.
That one will run 24/7. But running a game machine hexacore 24/7 is expensive for the bills yes.

Thats the stock cooler? Wow I guess they picked up their game with included coolers >_> 3.2GHz on my Q6600 atm, need a better cooler though : /

This cooler has even some heat pipes.
Impressed me for stock cooler.
I have Turbo preset set for the cooler in the bios.
It wont pass 60 degrees even with 1,4vcore and 25 degrees ( max is 1,5) for 24/7

I saw a picture of Intel's stock cooler for their super high end chip (I forget the name) and it looked impressive, last AMD I touched was AM2, I might build AMD with a BE chip next b/c they're such good bang for the buck and overclock well.

Nice, I still have my HD4870 that is enough for me atm. I am wating for new H6xxx series that will come end of this year, or beginning of next year. That will be most likely a upgrade from H5xxx series. Something like HD6770/HD6830 will be be nice for me i think.

Yah I was going to be getting an HD5830 or HD5850, but I don't have the cash for it now from some unfortunate circumstances, so maybe waiting will be a good idea, we'll see. Either way ATi are now in lead in graphics atleast :D

It was a good move from AMD to buy ATI.
No other company has good graphics cards and processors combined
Because that will the future cpu/gpu combined in one.
