* Grass seed
* Turf builder
* A Hose
* Shovel
* Metal Rake
1. Clear any rocks and debris off the area where you want to plant. A metal rake works well for this. If the ground is hard, a push broom can also be used to removed small stones and debris.
2. Use the shovel to break through the top layer of tough earth. A tiller could also be used if you plan to plant a large area. The top layer of sand is usually packed down and hard, you have to bust this up to expose the moist earth underneath.
3. Water the dirt. Using the hose, spray the broken up dirt until saturated. Do this twice a day for at least three days. A full week of saturating the ground is highly recommended.
4. Spread the grass seed. This should be done in the evening when the sun is starting to go down, so the seeds don't burn while you're spreading them.
5. Spread the topsoil on top of the grass seed. It doesn't need to be very thick, but make sure it covers all the grass seed. Check the label for tips.
6. Water the topsoil once a day. Only water before the sun is up or as it's going down. Watering during the sunlight hours will burn your grass seed and newly budding grass.
