well as a disclaimer, i am pretty hard to please when it comes to films/books/tv/music, as i'm sure you can guess from the following :P

i was trying to recall something from the last five years-ish that i really enjoyed, but couldn't actually think of anything off the top of my head, so i scrolled down imdb's top 250 to try to refresh my memory and uh

letters from iwo jima (2006!)

were the only ones from after 2005 that i really, really enjoyed. there are some mediocre ones at a say 5-6/10 level, but i guess i'd give shutter island a 6, it was good, but not great.

Not that the past 5 years have been the best movie years ever but still there's some movies which are very entertaining.

there's a whole bunch of movies i can recall liking, but were say 6ish out of 10 in my eyes. i'd give there will be blood an 8, into the wild a ~7.5, and letters from iwo jima an 8 i guess. like cRz pointed out, i'm kinda harsh on scoring.

i'd guess my favourite movies of all time wouldn't break the 9 barrier, which is strongly influenced by the idiotic trend of voting 10 on imdb which means "yes i liked this" as opposed to "this was perfect, completely devoid of flaws".

I highly recommend Repo Men, really awesome movie. Legion is an 'ok' movie if your into that stuff. Green Zone is a nice war movie. City Island .. some comedy. The Crazies is some horror/thriller movie. Just watch the trailers :P
