cloth vs plastic pad

hey there.. thinking of buying a new mousepad (want to play quakelive active or maybe ET again aha aha ! ). Currently i have the Steel S&S

Size should be pretty much the same.. and actually i like that mousepad pretty much. I just wonder what is better on the cloth pads. From what i read:

Cloth pads are more precise but the movement is slower (or not as easy on plastic). Is that true? If yes i guess i would stay with plastic since precision isnt a problem but fast movements are important for me. One thing that disturbs me on plastic: i sweat "easy" on plastic.. and on plastic it doesnt dissapear. And on this "wet" surfaces, the mouse stops working.. or isnt working well anymore. In hot summer days or after 2 hours of playing it can be pretty disturbing :S

maybe important: my mouse is a razer deathadder

thx bb

I'd say get an Icemat? you can wipe off any dirt :)

I myself have steelseries SP and I think it's really great :) better than most cloths I've used :)

+ lots of reviews show it's a great mousepad :)
icemat? cant find anything with google lol :P

steelsieres sp = plastic right?
Parent
SP is plastic indeed and I think Icemat is now steelseries I2I or what is it called

Basically it's a pad made out of glass, urtier once made icemats himself, he could make u one whatever size u wanted and it ain't even that hard :)

Depends which pad you use. Fast cloth pads > all imo. Smooth, clean and accurate. I'm using DA aswell, though it's prolly too heavy for quake. I do ok in duels eventhough I've only recently recieved the 24hours playing time reward :)
so which mousepad do u recommend me? :P
Parent
Not quite sure myself which I'm going to get next :P
I wouldn't recommend everglide for quake, but most pads from steelseries, razor etc that focus on speed and precision should do fine. I love DA for its mousefeet btw, can't seem to find a lighter mouse with similar feet :P
Parent
hm i guess it will be steelseseries qck+ or the everglide titan.. just cant deside :S
Parent
WHy not razer goliathus speed or roccat taito for example?
Everglide is great for ET since it has alot of friction and thus gives you slow and stable aim, but it's abit too slow for other games like quakelive
Parent
good question.. didnt knew of these ones before :P

hmm no idea now which to take ! was going to take the qck+ but now there is roccat (cheaper) and razer too :S

Do mousemats really make much difference? Just playing mx510 on a clean desk... (that's my excuse for last night >.< )
Parent
ye mousepads (especially with this mouse glide feed things) make a big difference.. atleast for me

way easier, more precise and faster movement
Parent
You clearly need the urtierpad
Parent
from what i heard glass sucks :(
Parent
HUGE difference. Atleast for me. Used to get annoyed by little bumps in my desk or some parts where traction was different compared to other parts, mousepad fixes all that.
Parent
cloth is soooooooooo much better.
i used to have steelpad s&s aswell, now i'm using everglide titan monstermat (clothpad, got recommended by a lot of ppl, incl. urtier for example as far as i remember) and it's like a million times better. let alone that s&s isn't rly good anyways + kinda small + wears out really fast.
My steelseries SP is still as good as new :) And Cloth normally wears out faster than hard pads ;) Hard pads just wear out your mousefeet faster ;)
Parent
well, my everglide still almost feels like new after using it for a reeeally long time. and steelpad s&s is horrible at least in this context. i think the surface of a plastic pad gets "rubbed off" way faster by the friction with your mousefeet.
Parent
why everglide titan and not steelseries qck+ ? :P
Parent
didn't try the qck+ but when i decided to get a new pad back then, i checked several old journals and topics and stuff and asked several people who i thought would know something about that and i came to the conclusion that i'm gonna go for the everglide. one advantage is, that it doesn't really seem to wear out, i can't compare it to qck+ but according to Muratt here qck+ wears out faster. no clue how qck+ feels, but i didn't regret buying the everglide even once.
Parent
i also used the S&S pad for a rly long time. but i switched to the qck+ now due to some mates who said that cloth is much better. tbh it's just ur personal feeling which pad is better. for me the qck+ was a good decision and i am rly happy with it.
qck+ is good
I plan to try a PureTrak Talent when my Razer Goliathus someday dies
plastic pads like QPAD CT are fucking awesome for 2 weeks but after that they get worn out and suck ass

cloth pads such as puretrak talent wont get worn out & have pretty nice feeling
cloth

noise
hand+mouse feeling
cloth pad, plastic will wear your feet out quickly. i've got QcK heavy + DA works great :)
qck+ worns out to quick get a goliathus speed :) using razer sphex atmoment good tracking but its too small :s
so i guess i have to decide now between

qck+
everglide titan
