Why wouldn't it?
e-sata port too slow, not possible to boot from e-sata.. i dont know i havent tried it yet :P

@edit: but from what i googled the e-sata port should be fast enough

Are you installing an OS on an external HDD? :/

Why?

Unless you mean the HDD itself can't boot? or wut

i want a second OS (which hasnt to do anything with my main OS) so i can put SLAC on it.. i simply dont want SLAC running on my main OS aslong as it isnt whitelisted.

So what i want to do:

connect external hdd via e-sata on the laptop (on which i have win7 + slac + et) and remove (e.g. bios or whatever) the main hdd with the main OS from the laptop.

u get it? :P
Parent
Dude...

That's a fucking waste of time.
Parent
dual boot ...
Parent
ye thats pretty much the idea.. just that i dont have another hdd in my laptop to install win7 at :P
Parent
dual boot doesn't need 2 hdd's, it creats 2 partitions and on 1 of them there's one op sys and the other has 2nd op sys and when u boot then u just select which one u want to boot
u can have 2 XP's also like this or whatever
Parent
ye ofc i can make 2 partitions on one hdd, but i dont want to.. i use a SSD with 80gb.. why would i want to waste 20gb of it just for an OS which i will use once 1-2 weeks :P
Parent
ssd is for op systems anyways, using it for file storage is gay and equals killing it and XP eg takes 5 GB ? if even that
Parent
i dont use the ssd for file storage.. i only have my win7 + programs on it.. files and games are on a snd hdd.

running xp on my laptop isnt rly working.. missing drivers etc.. so i would need vista or win7.

i will just use the external hdd.. its not needed at all anyway :) i just hope it will work.
Parent
give it a go i guess
ye i will.. but maybe someone already tried and can report that it wont work
Parent
i see, i dont think anyones tried such a thing afaik, but good luck with it!
Parent
i don't help trash sorry
lol :), you so mean gary!!
Parent
no respect for people who call our anticheat trash
Parent
yer, I understand.
Parent
our anticheat :D?
Parent
"trash" was maybe a bit too harsh... aslong as it isnt whitelisted i wont trust it.. doesnt matter how efficient its dedecting methods are and how lightweight it works.

as i (we) yet dont know how efficient it rly is, i cant judge on that.. i can only say what i know about it.. and that is that it looks not trustable. atleast for me.. np with this workaround i would feel safe :) connectin an external hdd and removing my main ones every 1-2 weeks for an offi is fine lol

also removed "trash" :P

and dont get me wrong.. would be nice if SLAC is the AC which we are all hoping for.. i just dont get it why it isnt whitelisted yet.. u dont have to pay for it? the only thing u need to do is to send in your file?
Parent
It isn't whitelisted because it gets updated.

And it's probably a very good thing for us that is taking this LONG to get whitelisted at any rate.

That means it's very hard to crack and that means that cheaters got their hands full on trying to look inside of SLAC :)
Parent
did anyone even say it has been sent to AC yet? I doupt and cracking and making bot for it has to do with whitelisting....
Parent
Well yeah, I have to send a new file every time it gets updated because the file is 'modified' then. I have to do with every program so it's no biggy :3
Parent
you don't have to.
good anti virus programs scan your memory. and slac is not encrypted in the memory (so you can start it --> dump it --> decrypted).
Parent
Ehm...if it were that easy, then the Cheating community would already have released milliions of SLAC proof cheats :D

And yeah, my AV scans memory and it detects SLAC as trojan so it's added to EXCEPTIONS, thus it doesn't get scanned or decrypted at any rate...

''idontwanttoplaywithslacattentionwhorejournal''
u mad at slac
You don't seriously think that having possible malware on an external HDD will keep your "main OS" safe?
i will just remove my main hdd´s from the OS when booting from the external one.. and when booting the main os i will remove the external one.. yes i seriously think i will be safe then
Parent
Paranoid?

Not paranoid enough.
Parent
and where`s the difference in having it on an external harddrive instead of ur main harddrive? despite of having a lower speed in transfering files...
having a lower speed in transfering files
