Journals
So after months of inactivity with my team, we are back and ready to play some competition so I decided to take a look at the ladder and challenge some teams and I found it's dead?
http://clanbase.ggl.com/rating.php?lid=984
From 60 teams, around 5 have played recently? and most are in dark green ready for hibernation...
This ladder was fun to play, official matches without the pressure of other Cups and always good for practice.
I see nearly 200 teams signed up for Open Cup and 5 playing this ladder??? WTF?
Now I understand the journals searching for official matches.
Months ago when we could play 6on6 it was easy to challenge a team and have an official match even on the same day... I see 2 matches for this sunday... ain't that sad.
nuffsaid
Its not challenging to play in ladders, because the bigger part of the clans in it are not 'strong'. Years ago 6on6 ladder was full of top clans, now I ask the question why should a team from the top level join the ladder with full of opponents which have no chance against it? Ladders lost their prestige! Now if someone makes it to rank 1 dosen't mean shit, they don't have to achive big victories, beat strong opponents... (atleast Highskilled clans wouldn't stand under TOP 3 for more than a week. Only if they dont find opponent)
R.I.P European 6on6 SW Ladder, 3on3 Benelux, 1on1 Eurpean Ladders =)
EDIT:
Fucking shit clans (Sorry) are also scared of losing their points/ranks. Look at Call of Duty 4 ladder, they are playing 3000 matches, accepting every challenge... Team-Gigabyte lost many times, but always made it to get good ranking back. Not like stupid ET clans who are sitting on their rank for weeks then they accept 1 challange before they get hibernated. LOL
Something happened to make ladders reach this point, imo 5on5 fucked this game a lot.
when 2on2 is the most active ladder someone or something is wrong here.
I felt and my teams also didn't join those ladders (except some years ago), because we wanted to prove ourselves against known, skilled, and very strong opponents. It dosen't mean anything if we beat random low+ :D
Nr 1: Japan national heroes 12.611 Activity
:D
(pretty normal for ladders to drop down their activity in summer, check the 6on6 ladder last year)
The problem with todays clans is that their aren't enough clans with the same skill, for example there are 4 teams that are highskilled, 20 that are med+ 50 that are med/+ 50 that are med and 50 that are low+ etc
the low+ clans are too 'scared' or cba signing up for a ladder, because they will get raped by everyone since no low+ clan wants to signup, the ladder is only about the med/med+ teams now, it's much easier to find an IRC war than an offi, because there is a better chance that in an IRC war you find a team with the same skill as you.
Maybe i could make the auto-match every sunday for 4 weeks to give a kick start to the ladders again, i'm sure there will be many teams getting active like that, we also have plans and are planning a way to link the ladders with the next OC & EC.
Also i don't understand why when someone post their "IRC-WAR-SCREENSHOTS" to prove themselves they are better than X clan, they get flamed by everyone that irc wars don't mean anything and that they should play offis, but then again, they themselves don't play offis, only 10 teams are playing offis and none of them are ec teams.
dont get me wrong but that was already announced a few years ago and is not in place ever since. It is the same problem over at ESL usually just because there are not enough and good enough ppl playing the ladders:)
When I started playing them you will find many teams from low+ to med+ so it wasn't a problem. Maybe a good thing would be to add like an icon or something were teams tell which skill they are... at least those low+ teams will know which teams are med+ or aiming to play vs med+ etc.
We are playing all nights against med- or med clans with SLAC so there are teams out there... and I don't understand the high number of sign ups for open cup and the low activity in ladders, in the end is just the same.. clans vs clans.
Thats why no one wants to play 5on5 ladder anymore... :(
They cant beat KRP so they will never reach golden ladders!
one of the teams that is keeping the ladder alive !
should come up with some plan to keep the ladder alive since it's more fun that a gay-have-to-put-tag-on-irc-war anyday..
In ET you can get maybe 1-2 decent newschool players in few months, in COD4 u can get them every day. I think Ladder was always good to play and see...after all history of matches is always somewhere. Just like it's lovely to see atleast screenshots & lineup in old EC matches...you can always feel some nostalgia.
Just check the EC&OC signups...its like 180. Before it was +300 and every team had atleast 1 extra player, because of 6on6 format.
My suggestion would be that all teams instead of praccs just challenge oppo after irc convs and play that match as a ladder official. Doubt you can expect that from ET community, it's already way too retarded. Just like killerboy said, they ll show you screenshots from pracc to get that precious ec quali but they wont play ladder offis.
ET isnt dead xD w8 for the engine
