The switch to 5on5 idea has been so successful that its effects have reached the usa too.
They are planning to switch to 7 vs 7 http://www.forums-center.com/index.php?showtopic=11551

The people in this case are dumb. More spam + less syncronization = less skill needed to do well. The better pub star you are, the more better you will do in this system. Imo, this game has done a good job of moving towards skill oriented rules by strengthening the importance of the SMG, and going from a 7v7 to a 6v6 was one.

Even if this is true, 7on7 is not a new thing for the North American community. When ET first came out they actually played the game 7on7 as did the Australians I believe (or at least the competitions in which some australian teams played american teams a 7on7 was used)

yep, yankees with their 7on7 and european teams with 6on6 OR 5on5 lineup + australians with some 12on12 line's :F
