N3 has been rolled out now! :( anyone else in Warwickshire area been hit? Rugby and Coventry are off now.

N3 has been out for years and it is still unhackable! This may be the end of cable hacking / free channels for everz!

Really? Finally! N3 was kinda secure, nothing compared to N2 :( can't wait :)

N3 has been rolled out over the UK this year. Slowly it is being put into action in different areas. The legitimate customers are receiving new cards (such as me lol). There is currently no way of getting the TV other than CARD SHARING.

However there is some other methods which is working which I have been working on.

LAN sharing... basically share card information via a private network to receivers via ethernet and you will receive all channels. The only problem is that 1 person will have to pay for the subscription. Works quite well at the moment!

oh, though there is a way to get it working already..

Cardsharing (the thing you described) has been working for 1.5 years lol atleast... We have N3 at Portugal since very long time, unfortunately :(((

Yeah but card sharing is pointless. It has been going since around 1993/1994 or whenever SKY/satellite TV came around. You could go and pay £1 for a card that would go into your box and would work for months. I remember having to write the old NTL cards lol, was so annoying doing that. EEPROM would sometimes not do correctly, and would take a few times via SERIAL :(. There is now USB ones which wasn't available back then. Would be a matter of changing keys 00 and key 01. Now this can be done automatically via a modem connection directly connected to the receiver. You could always view the keylist.txt and edit that using the remote control.

N3 is still unhackable though, it is very advanced apparently.

ahaha :D i still have some atmega card somewhere in my house! Was kinda annoying to change both keys from time to time, got to love the Autoroll "firmwares" :D and ye. the serial port, so old :D

N3 stands for Nagravision 3. It's a "encryption" system that only allows valid users to "open" a private satellite channel (subscription) http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Nagravision

The previous version (N2) was kinda easy to crack by some hackers, but N3 has been out for like 3 years without any decent crack (i wouldn't call card sharing as a crack..)

Basically with a specific card or something else (even a pci card) you can decode all channels for free and watch the tv!
